The "Lazarus pit" Prison
The Lazarus pit is a unbreakable prison where the league has been keeping their prisoners through the centuries. This name was given after the fact that the ones kept there are considered dead for it is impossible to anyone to climb the pit walls and achieve freedom. A chant with the word "Rise!" burst out every time a prisoner tries to climb its walls and many face death after falling from it. During its whole existence only one man who has been kept prisoner for almost his whole life was able to climb its walls and later became a leader of the league. That person was Bane and having almost become a mythical figure in the league by escaping "the Pit".
Bruce Wayne and his fellow prisoners (mainly Gothams rich elites) are trapped on the open prison nicknamed "the Pit" and are falsely given hope to escape by climbing out. After several attempts and having seen others fall to their death trying to escape the prison Bruce Wayne finally manages to escape and hence "rise" metaphysically and litterally to save gotham and himself and with the help of catwoman returns to Gotham to confront Bane and save Gotham.
Having watched TDK waaaay too many times, I can say that my reactions were A, the first time I saw it I thought it was too brutal, not 'my' Batman, Two-Face's characterization was lame, didn't like it. B, second through many more viewings, I thought it was the best movie ever. C, now if I watch it I see the problems I saw the first time. BUT the viewings in the middle make up for that, so I highly recommend it even tho there may be a personal 'backlash.'
I think I may have liked begins a little better actually in the long run. But I have high hopes and am definitely looking forward to Rises.
Hahaha, nice.
What happened to the DKR hype?
The Avengers happened.
"I am Loki Scar-Lip, Loki Skywalker, Loki Giant's Child, Loki Lie-Smith. I am Loki, who is fire and wit and hate. I am Loki. And I will be under an obligation to no one."
I'm actually surprised at how little hype I have for this movie since Batman is my favorite superhero and I'm a huge fan of Nolan's films. I've been completely unimpressed by everything I've seen so far and as someone who really doesn't like Anne Hathaway the Catwoman costume is only adding to that disappointment. To be honest I'm more excited about the new Spider-Man movie.
There's really no reason for them to try and hype the movie up yet. Avengers comes out first and rivaling the hype of that movie would be an effort in futility I think. Avengers is just plain a bigger movie, a bigger event, and Disney threw it's weight behind the marketing. It's probably the smarter choice not to try and compete with it hype wise, it would just fail. Their best chance is to try and build excitement after Avengers, if Avengers bombs(it won't) or is bad(it won't be) they can hype in it's wake. If it does well, then they can try and capitalize on all the excitement around superheroes.
I'm honestly the least excited by TDKR. It might be better then Amazing Spider-Man, that is iffy. But Avengers and Prometheus are where my eyes are this summer.
Don't worry.
My brother and sister of the atom.
We are the X-men, and we stand together
-this posters ragging on rob leifelds art is not ment as hatred toward the man he is a professional artist and got that way for a reason...however i cannot condone the use of pouches-
Well, it recently got its rating (PG-13), and there are newer images of Hathaway in the Catwoman suit.
Trickles of information until we get closer to the actual release may make more sense at this point . . . don't want to make less rabid moviegoers sick of the hype this far away from the actual release date.
(Might also be more cost-efficient . . . after all, if you can cut back a little on the advertising / promotional expenses, gives you more wiggle-room on making a profit on the whole deal.)
Looks like DKR is going to flop guys.
Judging by the Black Widow clip, Avengers'll be just loud, kickpunching and mindless explosions, without any substance behind it. DKR is going to blow them away.
I really cant imagine why anyone wouldn't be excited for this even if the stuff shown so far was underwhelming to you.
Nolan has already made two incredible films that have really raised the bar for the genre, and i can't see any reason to think he would drop the ball now. All of his movies have been great as well so why would anyone think this won't be?
"John Stewart. LAME! ...this guy having a ring is like giving the batmobile to a blind old woman with her left leg in a cast."
"Pym biting Blobs head off seems like something that would have happened when i was ten years old and playing with action figures."
"i always assumed that [the blob] had the same powers as his 616 counterpart because, if simply being a huge fat guy was enough to be considered a mutant then there sure are a lot of mutants in 'real life'. "
I have decided that Amazing Spiderman is going to be the best. And will probably gross the least. I don't expect TDKR to be very good, and Avengers to be anything other than what its trailer suggests.
I would like to say for the record that this is the FIRST TIME I've withheld dong when someone was so desperately asking for some.
