Here's the deal, instead of another X-Jam we're going to try something completely different, a series of vignettes! As defined, a vignette is a short impressionistic scene that focuses on one moment or gives a trenchant impression about a character, an idea, or a setting and sometimes an object, so we're going to adapt this to the comic book medium!
Talented posters will be allowed to sign up in this thread to work on a tale of their own! Since this is the first ever X-Vignette series there will not be a theme, but if this proves successful future installments will have themes enforced.
February 17th - March 8th
During this period any poster wanting to participate as a writer will be able to sign up! For their work to be considered they must follow the following guidelines...
1. Posters must follow a script format.
2. Their script must be 4 pages in length and cannot contain a ridiculous amount of panels on any one page (ex. a single page with 20 panels)
3. Their script must be X-related, meaning stories on mutants not associated with the X-Men brand will not be up for consideration.
4. You're script must also have a beginning, middle, and end! This is essentially a miniature one-shot.
5. Posters must post their scripts in this thread before 11:59 pm CST on March 8th. Remember to include a title!
*Note: Writers will be allowed to sign up in teams if they so desire.
March 9th
I, and potentially a few other designated posters, will choose the 10 best short stories that fit the requirements of this competition.
March 9th - April 11th
During this period any poster wanting to participate as an artists will be allowed to sign up! Creative teams will not be able to choose which Vignette they get to work on, instead they will pick a number 1-41 that will coincide with a certain page from one of the selected scripts. It is encouraged to work in groups - enlisting more than one artist, a colorist, and a letterer to help complete the work before the deadline. There are a few simple rules that one must abide by to be able to participate.
1. Posters must choose a number 1-41, I will then post the page of the script that they will be working on.
2. The poster must work with their writer and other artists to create a cohesive storyline.
3. The artist is responsible for drawing, coloring, and lettering their piece. In order for a piece to be accepted it MUST have all three of these. If you do not have access to a scanner, or a means to color/letter then I would suggest not participating or signing up with a creative team capable of completing the piece completely.
4. On April 11th, the artists will need to upload their piece and post in on this thread before 11:59 pm CST.
April 12th
On April 12th, I will post all of the Vignettes in order on a separate thread for everyone to enjoy! If people are interested we could include a poll to name a victor for best X-Vignette.
Remember this is just for fun, so please enjoy, also lets give a big thanks to Graconius for coming up with this great idea!
