Yes!
I knew this movie was going to kick ass, visually.
I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be a fun film.
The bar for comic book movies has gone up in recent years, and while I'm not expecting a Dark Knight here I'm hopeful that it at least won't suck.
If nothing else, a lot of it looks pretty cool.
I saw it. It rocked. GR is 100% badass in this. No one's ever going to say it matches up quality wise with Dark Knight or X:Men: First Class but if you want a fun action movie with Ghost Rider looking sick as hell, then this fits the bill nicely.
I saw a free screening of it last night, and I can honestly say it's the worst comic book movie I've ever seen. There might be worse ones out there I haven't seen, but of the ones I have...this one sits right on top of the crap pile.
I'm not lying when I say I would watch Catwoman in its entirety, watch the original Ghost Rider five times, and watch an entire weekend marathon of the Fantastic Four movies back-to-back before I would watch Spirit of Vengeance again.
Here's my breakdown of the movie -
[SPOILERS]
- If you think flashing random pictures of Jerry Springer in a movie makes it better, then go see it.
- If you want to see Ghost Rider pissing fire twice for no reason, then go see it.
- If you want a villain (Blackout) that's nothing but a complete goober, and is extremely proud of his gooberish-ness then go see it.
- If you want to see Idris Elba turn in the worst performance of his career, then go see this movie.
- If you want to see a movie about Ghost Rider that only really features 3 key action scenes, with the rest of the movie looking like a "best of Wicker Man" YouTube video...then go see this movie.
- If you want to see a movie completely ruin the dynamic of Johnny/Danny, but try to fit in the color "blue style flame" of Danny at the end then go see this movie.

How the woman that wrote this article got featured on CBR is beyond any comprehension I can muster. I was stunned by the end of her review...I'm speechless.
All of this is coming from the guy who actually owns Shark Attack 3: Megaladon and Bailout (an 80's action movie starring David Hasselhoff & Linda Blair). And I proudly support and watch both of those movies. If someone offered me Spirit of Vengeance on blu-ray for free...I'd walk away.

It was a lot better than the first movie, but i wished i saw it in 2D instead.
There is one really neat idea done in this movie, when GR decides to upgrade his riding vehicle. That was incredible.
MOTHER OF GOD!
contrary to popular beleif there are a few good sy fy channel movies out there. SHARK ATTACK 3 MEGALADON IS NOT ONE OF THEM!
the bloody trailer alone for spirit of vengence was better than that crap, and anything with idris elba cant be all bad, worst preformence or not (his worst preformence could outact the 2 main twilight actors across the span of space time itself)
ALSO anyone with any intrest in idris elba who hasent seen his british police drama Luther SEE THAT SHIT NOW!
The negative reviews of this movie only make me want to see it more.
I love Ghost Rider. He's an awesome character, and has tremendous potential. So it's no surprise that I really wanted to like this movie but it just wasn't in the cards. There were certainly a few good points; Idris Elba was pretty awesome, and the female lead did a good job with a relatively decent role. There were a few good jokes here and there. Some of the action scenes were memorable. The SFX were good for the most part.
But all of the positive qualities were essentially tissue paper caught in the exhaust of the figurative jet turbine that is Nicholas Cage. Any goodwill that remained from his role in Kickass died with this role. There were definitely other parts I didn't care for (Danny and the Devil were incredibly bland characters, the villain was a douchey sap who managed to hold his own against the Rider for barely thirty seconds, etc). I couldn't believe it when I exited the theater thinking that the first film was far better than this one. And the first one was a crappy movie.
Anyways, it was disappointing. I really wanted it to be great, too.
I'm going tonight at 7:30.
The only thing in Kryptonites write up that irks me is the pissing scene...twice.
I was hoping that would be one of those "just for the trailer" type schticks.
It has 3 big actions scenes, duh, it's only a 1.5hr film. That's one big climax at the end of a 3 act production. Not a complaint just one by someone who doesn't understand how screenplays are written.
