1 - Jim Lee´s WW is the Diana who JUST arrived on "man´s world" and has never even eaten an icecream before.

2 - Chiang and Atkins´WW - SEVERAL years have passed since her arrival on "man´s world"

But WW's tiara isnt even consistent in the same book, and i mean Lee's JL #3.

And it's not just the shorts that are different - on closer inspection there's many changes.
TIARA:

Lee - Skinny headband with a star.
Chiang - Beveled edge tiara.
Akins - No bevel.

CHOKER:

Lee - Star emblem.
Chiang and Akins - Pretty much the same WW emblem.

CHEST PIECE:

Lee - Incorporation of eagle into the WW.
Chiang and Akins - Pretty much the same WW emblem.

CORSET:

Lee - Way too many little lines and the stars are on the front.
Chiang and Akins - Less lines and stars on the side.

SHORTS:

Lee - He's put and extra seam line in the leg openings.
Chiang - No extra seam.
Akins - Lynda Carter style leg opening and he's made the stars smaller.

BRACELETS:

Lee - Small ones
Chiang and Akins - Larger ones.

Am I nitpicking? You bet. But I also thing that the New DCU should have a visual consistency.

It's like one of those Highlights picture games...

Comparing the three variations, it only makes me miss Cliff even more. His WW actually looks like an Amazon and her boobs aren't falling out, which is a welcomed change. Lee kinda makes her look wispy and small, and Tony Akins just... makes Diana look weird...

Chang's rendition of Lee's Wonder Woman uniform looks painted on in my opinion. Its as if the body was drawn and Chang just added all the necessary details to give the illusion that there's a uniform on her body. Panties are are a serious problem area as there's no clear distinction as to where they end and her legs begin. Lee and Akins, on the other hand, have at least drawn Wonder Woman and her uniform as separate entities altogether.

Seriously, I'd wish they'd stop backing out in using them at the last second because of bunch of ridiculous complaints.

When WW's suit was drawn like an american flag swimsuit, yes it was bad, but not it looks nothing like that, there is no thong, there is no american flag, and the suit looks good overall. I dont understand this obsession with pants for WW when none of you guys had a problem with Zatanna or Canary's bare legs.

If anything it makes much more sense for WW to look like that than wear pants. Pants make the suit look black and dull, and too urban. In a story so focused on mythology, she shouldnt look so ordinary and boring.

In my opinion the skirt is too warrioresque and the pants are too toned down. Chiang's underpants serve as a middle ground, they're elegant and they show power and strength.

And like i said in another thread:

I personally always thought that she looks too ordinary with them. She has no mask or cape, so when you give her pants, she's an ordinary woman in pants, and a red top. Only the silver trinkets make a difference and that's not a big one.



For JMS' Odyssey it kind of fit because she was a 20 year old girl raised in the city who suddenly learns that she's an amazon. But for a Themiscyra raised WW it doesnt. Especially when her current book is all about greek mythology and gods. She shouldnt be Xena, a brutish warrior in modern times, but she shouldnt be a random gal going for shopping either. We've only seen one pic of her with pants and no pants for direct comparison, and yes in that the pants do look better:



so i took the liberty of using my awesome MS Paint skills to create another one. OK, its not that good, but i tried my best to give her Lee's pants. Its too toned down, not superheroic enough, but dont just look at the pants, look at the context, look how off she feels in Themiscyra with them.



So i dont see why she needs to look so ordinary and boring. At the end of the day they settled on this design for the reboot, a design that's much better than what we've had before so why does every WW thread have to at some point inevitably devolve into a pants discussion? As if they havent been rebooting and redesigning her enough already.

Also, nobody is whining that Starling looks like a burlesque dancer (in fact everyone is loving her), people are whining about the loss of PG's boob window, and so on.

Seriously, this obsession with WW's pants is weird and irrational.
