I think I a superheroine movie could work, but the margin for error is much smaller. You are already putting 80% of your customer base on guard (Straight males with no wish fufillment investment in the characters) so the end product has to be that much more above reproach it to have a shot. That is a huge risk to take when there is a 100+ million dollars on the line and less riskier properties available.
I was not referring to nude scenes LOL (they would be out of place in a superhero film), I was just describing the visual characteristics of Spider-Woman. Namely- the costume, the hair and the body.
Anyway rights issues aside, this character has more than enough of a good back story to create a decent film. And I think just the name alone would create enough buzz/curiosity to bring in a good chunk of people who perhaps never even knew she existed.

You kind of have the opposite ends of this here.
The visual is just about the last reason any character should be turned into a movie. It always changes radically once you bring real human beings (as opposed to drawings) into the mix. The first thing that goes away is the spandex, afterall. Real human beings look pretty silly in the spandex bodysuits. You can't make a movie on the basis of, "She's hot." That turns it into objectification instead of characterization... and good characterization is a pretty key component to a good movie.
But you are right. She does have an interesting story. That's really the only part that matters.
i'd rather a story about jessica as an espionage agent who just happens to have creepy spider powers.
By comics, I assume that you mean superhero comics. Right? Superhero comics are essentially violent and weird. Most women aren't interested in things that are violent and weird. But comics can be about anything, and there are a lot of women buying Japanese comics (aka manga) because the subject matter of those comics is more interesting to them than superheroes. I've introduced some women to Vertigo comics, and they tend to like those better than superhero stuff.

Personally, I would want to see Ms. Marvel before Spider-Woman. You can do some high speed crazy flying action sequences.
I would pay money by see Spider-woman Movie:
SPY
AGENT SHEILD
AGENT HYDRA
AVENGER
DETECTIVE
SKRULL QUEEN
female charcther movie are bad? any renember Daredevil ( PUAGGG), FANTASTIC FOUR ( DOBLE PUAGGG) HULK 1 (TRIPLE PUAGGG), NICOLAS CAGE ALIAS GHOST RIDER, I´M SORRY, I HAVE TO GO VOMIT.
an opportunity SPIDER-WOMAN PLEASE!
Hey, that tiger is flying a spaceship.
If there would be a film, who would be the antagonist? What justifies her wearing her costume in fighting them?
I would love either, but I believe Carol Danvers has already been selected for the Alias tv show. Supposedly, there will be no mixing of film and movie properties. I hope that's not true.
That is the best way to introduce her: Jessica Drew, Agent of SHIELD.
Would you like her to have a British accent?
