They should if the rating keeps going up, why increase the budget if the viewers go up when you decrease it?

Them doing a season in each location makes sense really. Even if it pisses hardcore fans off. Your telling an evolving story. We have to understand that there 93 issues of the comic out at this point and really 3-4 big location pieces.

    1.) Outside Atlanta

    2.) Hershel's farm

    3.) The Prison

    4.) Community

Now there is some on the road stuff . You can mix those into the season episodes as we see them doing in town and them fighting for their lives this year.

But the show can't race through what Kirkman has done. He is only 2 mega chapters ahead really . So he needs the time and them drawing out storylines to do the Farm and all...nothing wrong with it.

And I'll go on record and say this... they need to spend the 3rd and 4th season finding and working on fixing the prison. You close the 4th season with the destruction of it.

By this point Kirkman will likely be another mega chapter ahead for them.

    Sucks 200 character limit.

Outside DC is like 2 seasons easily, prison can be 2.
Just from length of stories i mean.

    POTENTIAL SPOILERS.

    At the rate they're going:

    Book 1 (HCs) seasons 1 and 2
Book 2 seasons 3 and 4. (find the prison. Michonne shows up to end season 3)
    Book 3 seasons 5 and 6. (everyone talks a lot and maybe Rick's hand/Governor?)
Book 4 seasons 7 and 8. (blah blah end with the prison storyline ending)
Book 5 seasons 9 and 10 (a new cute kid is introduced to bring some life back into the show. Cousin Pam moves in... the budget is lower than ever, following record breaking ratings during the second half of season 10.)

I kid. But seriously, they could make the prison arc more than one season. They were there for a while.

The bit with the governor and them going there is 3 or 4 episodes easy.

First meeting him? Sure, yeah. I'd say half a season. Seriously. The rate the show moves, half a season. Or, ya know, a few eps in they meet and go there, and that half season ends with Rick's hand or some such similar move (since they might not do that in the show)

The Prison is pretty ripe for long form story telling and this show will likely milk the budget spent on it for as long as they can. 2 seasons minimum I'd figure.

    Good for them.

The comics had Shane dead pretty early on, pretending that the comics are going to directly translate each story arc verbatim doesn't really make too much sense.
Read The Call, African fantasy at its best http://coalminds.com/webcomics/thecall_adaptive04.html

Especially since we as viewers got Daryl as a new character who turned out to be the best character on the show.

If it keeps them from cheesy CGI building explosions, then I'm all for budget-cutting. That 6th episode is a black eye in an otherwise great series so far.

Does anyone have actual numbers on the budget? Has it been reported? There's a lot of accusations of it but I'm not sure I have seen the actual tallies.
