Batman by Scott Snyder / What is your verdict?

It's too early to tell. So much hinges on how this first arc plays out. How some of these things are resolved will determine what the vote will be. The writing has been good, but there is a lot of potential for the whole thing to fall flat - much more potential than the first arc of Action or Superman, for example.

Until we know all the circumstances around Batman being caught in a maze for a week (as one example) we won't know for sure if this is really good or if will collapse into the ludicrous. Until we understand why Talon appears to totally outclass him as a strategist and as a fighter, I feel I can't judge the quality of the title.

But Snyder certainly does have me coming back for more.

I went the full five.

The book is freaking awesome. I could see me re-reading this many, many times. Pretty much feels like the definitive Batman story.

I really love this title, it's just behind Batwoman as my top Bat title. His take on the character & his general work on the title are some of the best I have seen for sometime & considering the quality of some of the people who have tackled the character of late that's saying something. For once you feel like Batman is really being being tested, his opponents are especially creepy & relentless, something that can get missed from the Batverse.

Went with 4 stars. On a technical level it's very very good. However I'm not crazy about the long length of the arc.

4. I really liked this run before Didio and Lee @#$%ed it all up with is reboot bullsh!t. And thanks to them I dropped all of my Bat-books.

The writing is great, you can clearly see that. The problem that I have with the title is that it moves a bit slow but I'm sure it's building towards something exciting.

So I give it 4 stars, which means "Great" in my book. I think this whole star rating that are currently implementing is messed up.

Definitely a 4. I'd say he would have been in serious contention for a 5, but he tends to stretch his storylines out a tad too long for my liking.

Hard 3 with ambitions to upgrade to 4.

Some of his ideas are rather well (dead whale in bank's atrium) and I really like how he writes interpersonal relationships in Bat-family, but his broad strokes lack the execution and originality. I do hope that in the future he tackles more famous Gotham rogues without tying it into this Court of Owls melodrama (Mr Freeze one-shot I'm looking at you!).

I was gonna go 4 or 5, but I went for 5 because before New 52 I'd only read comics in the form of GNs and TPs. Since getting into monthlies I've totally gravitated towards everything Scott Snyder has written. Batman, Severed, Swamp Thing, the Black Mirror HC... everything. Yet Batman is still the best he's doing so yeah. It's pretty "wow" for me.
