Question Batman by Scott Snyder / What is your verdict?

His work on Detective Comics the previous year added to the Batman mythos, when Dick Grayson assumed the mantle of the Caped Crusader. He is adding more to the Batman mythos and so far so good. What do you think so far on the Batman relaunch with Scott Snyder helming the writing duties?

Hey I was the first vote =)
    nice

Batman by Scott Snyder is definitely the most Fresh take that Batman has received in years
even though Morrison's batman was great and it took the caped crusader through new places and completely unexplored by him, he always stayed inside the same notion that Batman was the ultimate human, the pinnacle of superheroes, it was great journey but Batman was Always Batman, you knew that he will come back and kick ass and still enjoy it, It was marvelously done

Snyder's run is the first time that i have seen this idea of Batman in peril made so brilliantly, he is no longer the smartest guy in the room, he is in a place were you can honestly doubt that he might survive alone, but its still faithful to

Its writing is dark and alluring, it crawls under the skin, all his characters have a unique take and voice and the villains are entertaining and fearsome, there is strong symbolism on it too but not a big as Morrison still its simple enough to stimulate the reader

In Short, its one of(if not THE) the Best comic in the market so far and one of the best batman runs ever made

You know how, when people ask "Where can I start reading Batman?" and comic fans recommend Year One or Long Halloween or Hush?

Well now there's an even better option.

    Absolutely amazing

The first four issues were solid and well written, but not amazing. Well above average, but not more than a solid 4 star-run. But the 5th issue is one of the best single issues I've ever read with the character, so I'm giving it 5 stars.

One star. Dropped after the fifth issue. Nothing has happened so far. I get Snyder's slowly building to stuff, but this isn't a novel. I need some sort of narrative satisfaction after almost half a year. The Court of Owls existing for over a hundred years but Batman never uncovering proof of it is a ridiculous notion. Batman knows everything. Also, Batman looks like he's wearing a bicycle helmet. Enjoy your Spawn art, ladies & gents.

There are so many horrendous statements in that last post, I just don't know where to begin. So I'd rather just don't.

I think it's fantastic. This is most human and vunable version of Batman I've ever seen, and as a horror writer it makes so much sense for Synder to make Batman more human, so that he can pray on his weaknesses. But where as the weakness that Snyder used was compassion for Dick it's ego for Bruce. I think the Black Mirror might be a better run when everything wraps up though.

It's a good sign of Snyder's success that the haters are coming out of the wood work. I believe that if everyone likes your work your doing something wrong. Look at the polarizing views of Morrison.

Not quite as good as his Tec' run was 5 issues in, IMO anyway, but still very, very good .

I disagree in that Morrison didnt show him in peril. He basically killed the guy and ruined his family name. It took batman like 4-5 years to beat Hurt.
And of course his Batman went through every kind of story, from a noir mystery (black glove story) to the over the top time travel story of RoBW. Now that's fresh.

Not taking a stab at Snyder, just saying...

And yet Hush will still remain iconic somehow.

I'd give it four stars. It's good, very good even, but it's not quite hit that sweet spot for me yet. I can't really give a real verdict until after the whole arc has been published because many of the complaints I have about the run may be rendered null and void by the time it's all over. One thing that can't be disputed IMO is that this story is more than a little derivative.

In comparison by it's fifth issue his Detective run had already cemented itself as a five star work for me.

If I were to drop all of my comics, I'd still be getting Batman. I think that says something.

While I disagree with this statement it did make me laugh.

I feel this is the best look and by far the best story for Batman since Millers run in the 80's.

The argument that nothing as strong as the Court of Owls could have remained hidden from Batman this long was explained in the first or second issue.
