Episode 135, "She Walks in Beauty," where Hoss falls in love with a woman with an infamous past (the woman is played by a young Gena Rowlands!). She breaks his heart when she realizes that her past would always come between them. Her engagement with Hoss is more of an implicit one.

    Adam:
    3 fiancees/1 dead fiancee
    Hoss:
    4 fiancees/2 dead fiancees
    Little Joe:
    8 fiancees/3 dead fiancees

Episode 150, "My Son, My Son," is an interesting twist as this time it is BEN, not his sons, almost getting married. However, the engagement is broken over problems with the woman's son.

    Adam:
    3 fiancees/1 dead fiancee
    Hoss:
    4 fiancees/2 dead fiancees
    Little Joe:
    8 fiancees/3 dead fiancees

    Ben:
    1 fiancee/no dead fiancees

Episode 166 "The Pressure Game"/Episode 167 "Triangle" has Adam get engaged to his girlfriend Laura (who had been on the show for most of the season) but neglects her as she falls in love with his cousin Will and she ends up married to Will instead of Adam (this was how Pernell Roberts was going to be written off of the series, but when he agreed to come back for one more season, they quickly re-wrote episode #166, which would have ended with a wedding to an open-ended plot and then had #167 end with Adam losing the girl - this also managed to write out Gus Williams, who had been added to the show as cousin Will in case Roberts did, indeed, leave).

    Adam:
    4 fiancees/1 dead fiancee
    Hoss:
    4 fiancees/2 dead fiancees
    Little Joe:
    8 fiancees/3 dead fiancees

    Ben:
    1 fiancee/no dead fiancees

Yea that was a good show with a surprising bodycount. You'd think that family would get a reputation in that area and the locals would keep their daughters the hell away from the Cartwrights!

There should be a count also on how many times the Cartwright boys would need their Pa to save them. I'm sure it would outnumber the body count.
