I never understood the mentality of "I paid good money for mine. I am selfish and don't want anyone else to have the pleasure"
I'm always glad to hear about someone getting a great deal on an OOP omnibus. I bought another Howard The Duck and Secret Wars 2 because they were still sealed and DIRT cheap -- $80 and $40, respectively.

So there IS precedence for them to do such a thing.
Have to disagree as The Dark Phoenix Saga OHC was on the dump list from Marvel a few months back to clear them out of the warehouse. That is why people were getting deals for $25 to $30. I remember someone on Ebay selling a bunch of them at that price.

So why dump them if Uncanny X-men Vol 2 is not going to include them? If Marvel did that people would be rushing to buy the Dark Phoenox OHC and paying a premium for it to fill the gap between Vol 1 and Vol 2

Right, but the editors on the Claremont/Lee books aren't the same as the editors on the SA Omnis. All of the omnibuses derived from the Masterworked material are organized by Cory Sedlmeier, who is responsible for the Masterworks volumes themselves. Thats why the SA omnis all follow the Masterworks mapping very closely, with most books basically being three MMWs in one. Thats also why they have letter pages, the omnibuses have extra room that the Masterworks don't so Cory can include them.

I also think Specimen hit it on the head. The X-Tinction Agenda HC is only six months old so including it in the omnibus would undermine its existance.

And finally, if Marvel did intervene and cut the Dark Phoenix saga out of the book I think the demand for and interest in the omnibus would go down significantly.

I don't agree with this AT ALL. If there is an Uncanny Vol. 2 regardless of whether it includes the Dark Phoenix issues it will be hot. Everyone on this forum will buy it. Everyone wants it.

Everyone would want it even without The Dark Phoenix saga? Thats like, the story in the book. Sure completists and collectors would get it but I can't see it being nearly as popular as it would be with the actual complete story.

But its a moot point anyway, since Marvel won't release it without DP to begin with.

I agree, they are putting that story in there. Also, I don't want an Uncanny 1 reprint either! I got mine for like 140!

I believe Fantastic Four 3 and Uncanny 2 will come out before either Fantastic 2 or Uncanny 1 are reprinted anyway

I can see them doing reprints for both to be honest. I think someone at Marvel will have the brainwave that tells them they could probably sell more of FF3 and UXM2 if FF2 and UXM1 are available, especially with FF3 as that will be the third volume in a line. How many people would buy Volume 3 of something if they can't have 1 or 2?

you think both will come FIRST tho? there has already been a second print of Uncanny 2, tho it was awhile ago. that would mean even more of a wait for Uncanny 2 arggggg

I think if they do reprint it will come shortly before the next volume. Really, if they feel safe releasing two overpriced X-Men omnibuses three months apart then I think they'd be safe to release one hugely popular volume a few months before the hugely anticipated sequel. It would seem to me that it would be as close to "printing money" as huge expensive books can be.

sad part is, I'd probably buy another copy of both, especially if FF2 was a sewn binding reprint (which it would be)

Ugh I checked the site 30 mins after I got the email, and all 5 of the books I was interested were out of stock already! I checked several others on the "New Arrival" list and they were gone too. I guess they're not kidding when they say supplies are limited...

Does anyone know for certain if there are plans to release the next volume of Brubaker's Captain America in the omnibus format? It seems unlikely that they wouldn't, given the three already released, but it concerns me that I haven't seen even a mention of it in any of the upcoming releases.

I'm a newbie here, obviously, but I love the Marvel omnibuses and I have 18 of them on my shelves. Just to offer my bona fides.

I havn't touched a hardcover, omni, or even a trade in ages. I'm doing my Amazing Spiderman 1-500 read with the CD rom. Currently on 189. It is tough to read through the same title one issue at a time, but I feel it will be worth it once I get to the recent hobgoblin trade and the Mcfarlane Omni.

I'm pretty much reading Spidey as much in books as I can, and plugging in the issues with the CD.

It was jarring to move from the first ASM omni to the CD, because the presentation is just SO much better in the book.

Look at the release schedules of the previous three books. The first came in 2007, the second came in 2009 and the third came in 2011. They've been releasing pretty steadily, a new one every two years. If they keep this up we'll see it in 2013.

D'oh! I should have taken two seconds to check that. Thanks, CrazyOldHermit!
