Thomas Mason (the superb colorist who re-colored X-Men 1-7) has posted new coloring of X-Force #1, supposedly for an X-Force Omnibus.

I personally don't like the recoloring. Doesn't make it look better to me, might actually be worse. Forget the art though, I've never read these X-Force stories, are they any good?

Why are they standing in front of a tunnel? Why are the bricks not symmetric or equally sized? Why is there dust in the tunnel? Why is Cable's head so tiny when compared to the remainder of his body? Why are Cable's arms & legs wider than Boom-Boom? Why all the scowling? Why are they angry? Why is Cannonball so tiny? Surely that can't be ONLY due to foreshortening? Where is the light source for the glinting off the top of Cable's shoulder pads and knee caps? Why are there no feet shown? Why was Wolfsbane able to get in front of the dust when no one else was? Where are Shatterstar's eyes? Why is the wind blowing Shatterstar's cape & Proudstar's tassles but not Wolfsbane's or Boom Boom's hair? Why is Boom Boom wearing green sunglasses in a tunnel? Are they green safety goggles? Why is Domino's left foot hidden only behind Wolfsbane's hand? Surely her foot isn't that small, and she's standing on steps. Why is Domino's leg so lumpy? Why are Cable's forearms so short in comparison to his whole arm? Does he have squirrel arms? Why are Cable's hands so tiny in comparison to the remainder of his body? How did Cable fit his entire right leg & foot completely behind Wolfsbane? What is that coming out from under Wolfbane's right armpit? It's a superflous leg! It can't be Cable's because it looks different than his left leg.

Yes, despite all of this I might just pick this baby up....IF, a BIG IF, it comes polybagged with cards and a poster. Also wonder if they'll issue a DM version with the UPC box white on black instead of black on white?

Although the cat girl is "Feral" not "Wolfsbane." Feral was the knockoff whose defining feature was "x-treme Wolverine" hair. She has no real reason to exist.

Two more: Why are there steps leading to a tunnel? Why are Shatterstar and Domino wearing amateur boxing/high school wrestling face masks?

And lastly, someone, ANYONE, please feed Proudstar for gosh sakes. His face & neck are starting to look like those Ecuadorian shrunken heads. He can't fight and grimace on an empty stomach!

You know, cuz seeing cable with his tree trunk body and tiny forearms and hands wouldn't be enough to fake a bad guy out, let alone him being a cyborg with one eye and all that.

One thing about that X-Force cover that crossed by mind... it looks like Liefeld was really pushing his creations over the traditional Claremont/New Mutants characters. Cable, Feral, Shatterstar, and Domino get by far the most real estate on the cover.

What about a "Supreme Power" ominbus, eh? Anyone up for that? I followed the series for a few issues, but didn't stick with it. It was pretty good, though.

The idea of a Squadron Supreme MAX, like Supreme Power, is still really awesome, IMHO.

But since Straczynski isn't the most popular writer these days, I'm not sure we'll see an Omnibus anytime soon.

Good answer :). I don't like Liefeld at all but half the things in the above complaint are stuff that happens all the time in comics. Its just posing for a cover. I would be sad if all artists followed a rigid real-as-possible approach to comic art.

As of now, not yet a full day I know, it still hasn't dropped. I realize it'll have to hit someones "desk"/inbox for review but has anyone ever tracked something like this?
