Lemme just say the DM Variant cover is a thing of BEAUTY!!! Wayyy better than the regular version.

Have you seen the regular one in person? I am having trouble deciding which one I want.

Maybe, "improvement" isn't the right word to use when trying to sell this particular book to an avid X-Fan with feelings of nostalgia for this particular run. How about "supplement", since Marvel is really wanting the double-dippers to pick this one up in addition to the omnibus. I can certainly appreciate the original coloring in the omnibus, but 2.0 adds a little bit of fun (at a very steep price) to those first 7 issues. And you can argue that not everything was improved. Take a look at the re-coloring of Byrne's Major Mapleleaf fighting the X-Men, the scene gets changed from daytime to night time and Sean and Ororo get lost in the darkness. It's a re-imagining, not nescessarily an improvement. I wouldn't have wanted that done in the Masterworks or UXM Omnibus v2, but its cool for a demonstration of modern re-coloring techniques.

I think that is the best way for me to look at it. An interesting supplement. I think it's great to have and as long as the original is available in restored over sized format I'd love to see more of this.

What is so special about Wonder Twin Toys selling Jim Lee X-men Vol. 1?

If I needed another copy I could get it from amazon, tales of wonder, cheap graphic novels.....the list goes on.

Its too bad the restoration in the actual book is so poor.

I think the recoloring looks cool, but I also like the originals. I won't be getting 2.0 because of the price and the fact that I got Claremont/Lee 2 omni.

I still am disappointed in marvel over the AOA book though. I think it came too soon after the release of the trades and the format of the book stunk. I like reading like it's a timeline, even if prequel material was made years after X Men Alpha. Also, the dropped stuff, and how they included legion quest as a prequel but not chronicles...yeah still hurtin over that one

Just two: Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire and his portion of Messiah Complex. I really loved Shi'ar Empire to the ground, but it seems to have a lukewarm rep with most X-Fans.

I hated Shi'ar Empire, but mostly because it never ended. I read Bru's 12 issues and then the 5 Yost issues and it still didn't finish. Art is pretty good though.

Decided to pre-order Remender's Omni. Loved everything Remender so far, so might as well.

I'm just gonna have to disagree with you. I think the recoloring we've seen so far looks magnificent. Hell, it made Simonson's Thor beautiful and the majority of the people who have reviewed and talked about that book agree. Every time there's a recolor available or we talk about it, you wall-o-text us with how putrid you think it is. I'm pretty sure most of the regulars here get it already. You don't like re-colors. Ok then, don't bloody buy them. It's not like this material is unavailable in the original format.

With this kind of attitude, I'm not terribly surprised you're one of those people who are against remixing and remastering albums as well.

I don't think that is what Krisis or I are saying - going from 4 color printing restoration vs what they did with Mutant Genesis, which looks like they turned it into modern era computer colored with gradient coloring.

Noticed this thread slowed down a lot since the release of Diablo 3, coincidence?

I've now got only 5 HC books to buy this year from Marvel, nothing oversized either, possibly more if I pick up JiM/UxForce. It's very strange to no longer have to hunt for books at reasonable prices.
