Though I really enjoyed Simonson’s Thor Omnibus, it kinda drove me crazy how long it took me to finish an issue and the overexpository dialogue of that era, I have to say I’m really having a blast reading X-Statix, except maybe for the godawful and pisspoor representation of my country that Allred rendered. Buenos Aires is completely urbanized city with heavy european architecture influence, and Allred drew a cross between Mexico from 1915 and a Brazilian fabella, inhabitted by brown people when over 80% of Argentina’s population is white.
Leaving that aside, the story is amazing and fast-paced with a lot of character focus and the book itself is simply gorgeous, especially with that reddish faux leather. I wonder how you guys rank the book among your favourite Omnibi.

My thoughts exactly. Besides, whether you like extras or not, the set is still over 1.500 pages. Also, two books (with obviously two set of covers, dustjackets, binding, etc.) are more expensive to print than just one.
On the other hand, I've always thought that Marvel isn't helping at all with its description of the book. Everywhere I've read it is 890 pages long, but they forget to mention that's just the story book and that the the companion is almost 700! I hope they don't make this same mistake with The Stand omnibus, which I'm definitely getting if it's as gorgeous as this set.
I think if people want to complain about how expensive a book is, they should complain (even more) about the first Claremon-Lee X-Men Omnibus.

DBrewer (or anybody else here who knows) I see you have Teen Titans Omnibus v2. I've read the reviews on Amazon and want to know more from a Marvel fan's perspective. Always been a Marvel guy, read very little DC, but I like the comparisons made to the early 80's X-Men quality (and I tend to like early 80's Marvel). What can you tell me that might convince a Marvel fan to try the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans Omnibus?
And it drives me just a little crazy when I spend $3.99 on a comic and can read it in 8 minutes and then have to buy the next three $3.99 comics in order to finish a minor plot point due to a lack of dialogue or narrative. Simonson's Thor was damn near perfect! And yes, X-Statix rocks! Get it for 50% off at ToW while it lasts...one of my favorite omniboo (and I bought it as a blind buy, too).
I think Simonson's Thor is a perfect example of a very good mesh between art and prose. It's a tad heavy on the words, but it's from the 80s, so it's fine. I'm not used to it, so it's a little annoying sometimes when he writes some stuff that's pointless like explaining the action. He and Byrne and a few others are from that era where every issue was a jumping point, not just the beginning of a story arc.
