I haven't completely finished any of my omnis yet. I'm in the middle of Thor (needed a break from Simonson, it's too awesome :P) and I'm in the middle of ASM/McFarlane. Spidey is my favorite so I find I can read him faster.

No books this month? Yeah, I've been saying that as well all weekend. Bought three more OHCs since then.
My god, almost 400 posts over the last 36 hours. Who put this thread on speed?
This'll be fun for those who haven't visited the thread since Sunday. (Btw, haven't seen Krisis in a while).
What if...?
I started binding omnibuses? I could use twine and tie the spines around a log. It would be too big to hold, which means I would have to make the "book"
stand at least 3 feet off the ground. Imagine all the Bru Caps or Miller DD's lined up...!![]()
I have FF v2 as well and agree that it seems durable, but the issue that I have with it (and some other glued bindings) is that it is more difficult to read. This omnibus was produced during the 'mousetrap' era at Marvel, with very tight glued bindings on their hardcovers.
If you compare the earlier first printing of FF v1 to FF v2 - both have glued bindings, but FF v1 is more more comfortable to read. Since the stories are silver age, there aren't the gutter loss issues that occur with glued bindings on modern comics, but the 'mousetrap' binding makes it tough to keep open without using both hands.
I have the corresponding masterworks as well and prefer to read them instead, despite the art not being over-sized.
Yeah, I kinda started thinking "Is this a clever move?" the second I punched Submit Reply.
Your reading strategy sounds like something I should try. Even if an omnibus is great, some change can never hurt. Thinking of doing something like this with Wolvie and Spider-Man. Something modern combined woth something older.
I'd just like everyone to know that not only am I dropping Marvel, I'm dropping this forum considering I'm not even allowed to voice a negative opinion because a thread "isn't about me".
Amazon.de is beating Bookdepository on a few books atm:
- Spider-Island OHC 23 EUR
http://www.amazon.de/Spider-Man-Spid...56719&sr=1-136
- Spider-Island Companion OHC 24 EUR:
http://www.amazon.de/Spider-Man-Spid...56503&sr=1-115
- Avengers Omni 53 EUR:
http://www.amazon.de/Avengers-Omnibu...56503&sr=1-109
(And Hawkman Omni 43 EUR - clearly a glitch: http://www.amazon.de/Hawkman-Omnibus...856869&sr=1-58)
I tell myself this every month and fail miserably -- when I think I have everything I need for now, I change my mind or start reading a franchise I've ignored...
Plus, the fact that a lot of the new comics are really compelling and the existence of the Comixology app has kept me away from getting through my to:read list of Omnibus titles :(
I just got my Avengers omnibus (that I wasn't going to buy {see also: addiction}) from Instocktrades and I agree with everyone that the packaging is top notch. I will be moving any future omnibuses that aren't heavily discounted elsewhere to them.
Also, my crap load of UXM masterworks came today. I sold my yellowed, dingy, first print omnibus and was able to get vols 1-8 instead. My first superficial observation is that the respective volume sizes are all over the place.
Edit: And UPS just brought my new Invaders Now! OHC that I picked up for $3.XX shipped on Amazon the other day. Lots to read. Lots to read.

Man i am not gonna lie but those Avengers prices are tempting, did Stan Lee write them for real or did Jack Kirby do behind the scenes stuff like usual?
