Oof....going to be a big week. Although two of them are coming from B&N so who knows when they ship. I finally had my Untold Tales of Spiderman ship and they got them in on March 28th. Pre-orders mean nothing to them as you can order online once it comes in stock and that order jumps ahead of my preorder from November....what kind of sad system is that?

So besides playing shipping roulette, my orders play let's guess when they will ship. Only a few times have my orders shipped a day or two after the books became available as in stock online.

Thus I have to grin and bear it as I do get the books for the cheapest price. If not for Nook B&N would have gone the way of Borders by now.

This past weekend I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the DM variant Untold Tales of Spidey Omnibus HC from in stock trades.

I'd had it on pre-order with amazon.com way back when but after all the horror stories and bad experiences lately with amazon.com's packaging, I decided to cancel and go with IST.

While shopping around on the IST site, as is always the case, I ended up buying more than I'd bargained for. I picked up all 5 of the Dark Horse Star Wars "A Long Time Ago" Omni's reprinting the entire Marvel series from the late 70s thru the mid 80s. Also picked up the Shadows of the Empire Omni.

Lastly, to follow up on a thread post from a few weeks back, Krisis had posted some deals on Marvel TPBs & HCs via amazon.com's bargain website. Based on that thread post I ordered a couple of Red Hulk TPBs. They arrived last week, in pretty decent shape. One had some slight cover/shelf wear and a remainder mark, the others were all like-new.

Also, about a week ago, I noticed my local BAM had many, many Marvel MPEs and TPBs deeply discounted in their bargains section. I remember seeing several Iron Man MPEs and TPBs, Black Widow MPEs, X-Force, etc. Lots of good stuff there. Some had the shrinkwrap slightly torn at the bottom and a remainder mark on the book, others were totally sealed and perfect. I picked up some What If Classic TPBs for $4.97 and $9.97 ea.

Check out your local BAM to see what they have available! It's always cool to find a good book at a bargain price!

Awesome. There's only 1 in my area and each time I hear one of these great stories I get inspired to go check it out, and each time I'm thoroughly disappointed. Looks like I'm due for another trip this week though, fingers crossed.

I replaced my Fatal Attractions order with amazon. I forgot that I had $50 of credit and I decided it was worth the pain and suffering of sending it back if I get a bad one.

I will post pics when it arrives. It should be a beauty!!

Hate to ask something that's probably been covered but do the Cosmic OHCs (incl. Annihilation, Conquest, WoK, etc.) include all the minis and tie-ins associated with those Events? EXCEPT FOR GotG & Nova, I know those series and relevant issues aren't included, but is anything else missing?

    Thanks.

I believe so, yes. The only thing that was never included in the 'event' books was the 'Road to the War of Kings' TPB which I believe collected the Kingbreaker mini surrounding the X-crew involved (Rachael, Havok, Polaris...) That was the only cosmic book I never got.

Tell me about it. I almost got lynched in a thread about AvX #2 preview for suggesting that a dog with a paint stained paw could produce better art than what we are getting in AvX. Take a look at that preview for #2, look at the panel of the assembled avengers in the hellicarrier right before Collosus busts through and tell me thats not the worst art ever. People said I was crazy. Just look closely at the Black Widow, its just a travesty.

Are you reading Uncanny X-Force? Tochinni's art in these past couple issues would give JRJR a run for his money

I had the same problems in the discussion threads for AvX 1. I pointed out the worst of the worst like Iron man's constipation face and Cap's Fonzie double-point but everyone just kept insulting me so I left. I've looked back at that issue over 10 times trying to figure out what I'm missing but it's just plain out-right bad. What the hell is WRONG with people?
Marvel cosmic needs Jim Starlin back. As long as he is prohibited from using the word 'myriad' ever again.

I liked TOchinni's artwork for those issues of UXF. His light, watercolored style fit well with the quasi-fantasy Otherworld setting.

While some of JRJR's figures can sit on the ugly side, they always have weight and substance. I believe his scenes take place in a 3 dimensional world and objects have mass, something I think is important in superhero comics. Other people's opinions will vary, obviously.

People have other opinions, or find other features in the work that superscede a couple ugly panels or strange panels? This is normal, not everyone is going to think the same thing as you, no matter how common-sense you might think it is.

I just now went back to see what you were talking about, and you are so right! It's hilarious, but also so sad at the same time because I still like his Uncanny X-Men run and always disliked Mark Silvestri's run because I thought his art wasn't as good as JRJR's. Boy have things changed! Nowadays Silvestri's art is much better than JRJR's. And I noticed those JRJR Whiskers, too. What's that about?

I saw that art and didn't care for it. I also thought that it makes collecting into an omnibus with the earlier issues a problem because its such a drastic change in style. It would really disrupt the continuity of the omnibus IMO.

It seems pretty silly to me to suggest that a dog with a paint stained paw would produce better art than a professional comic artist. I'm sure you can see that.

He does get how to add some weight and energy to his action, which I like. Other than that though I can't stand him. His faces are terrible, his bodies blocky and unnatural and his proportions and understanding of anatomy are amateur-ish.

His drawings, and I'm not hyperbolising, look like a better colored version of the stuff me and my friends used to draw in middle school. Some artists I don't like but I could see why others do, I just don't get why anyone likes him. But a lot of people like do so shows what I know.

I did like the stuff he did in UXM back in the day, the pre 200's UXM run. Lets get an omni of that stuff. That would be about 20 issues right?
