I'm a big old transformers fan and am digging the new ongoing IDW series, even though I'd prefer more Optimus Prime. I do a review column every sunday and reviewed the recent Robots in Disguise series in its entirety http://www.renderwrx.net/apps/blog/ if that helps anyone who hasn't tried it out yet. I'll get around to reviewing More Than Meets the Eye probably next week. Just a heads up if anyone care.

Question: when Marvel did both TF and GIJOE, they kinda shared the same universe and met a few times. So does the IDW versions of both TF and GIJOE share the same universe or not?
Favorites: Fearless Defenders* New Avengers* Bloodshot* Shadowman* Archer & Armstrong
Long time TF fan but I’ve never read any of the comics though and have been wanting to wade into the IDW series, but all the different mini-series a few years ago seemed really hard to follow from a continuity stand point and really pushed me away. Now, that there are two official monthly series that have been established for a while, I wanted to check with you guys and see what’s worth my time. Christmas quickly approaching I might seek out a couple of the trade paper backs…
Also, what is the general consensus on Regeneration 1?
the idw joe and tf are seperate
mtmte and rid are both fun and worth it
love it

Regeneration One owns. And as someone who never read the Marvel series of yesteryear either, its actually pretty straight forward to get into. Just pick up the 100-Page Spectacular (that reprints the last 4 issues of the Marvel run, useful for getting the broad strokes of what came before), the FCBD 80.5 issue (which should be reprinted in the Regeneration-One trade when it comes out. Also available free digitally on ComiXology), and just start reading from the issue 81 relaunch (which should be out in TP form in a month or so).
Easily one of the best action/sci-fi series of this year (in a sea of great Sci-fi series this year). You'll know if you're gonna dig it when you read the last page of issue 81. F-ing outstanding.
Speaking of which, the latest issue, 86, was a real corker too. This series is just glorious. Certainly a GRIM... situation.

I enjoyed the recent Transformers Spotlight: Thundercracker comic. It won my Best of the Week spot on my weekly review blog http://www.renderwrx.net/apps/blog/
Who knew Thundercracker might have been a better Autobot? And what's the deal with Metroplex? What's this mission he is on? Where there any hints in previous comics?

Last weekend's NY Toy Fair showed why they were doing Spotlight issues again. Hasbro is doing 30th Anniversary toys, with the new IDW Spotlight issues packed in. Orion Pax, Costa-era Bumblebee, stealth fighter Megatron and Trailcutter were all announced.
Recommended Comics:
Star Wars: Dark Times,
Richard Stark's Parker by Darwyn Cooke,
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye

Really enjoying More Than Meets The Eye just now - one of my most anticipated comics every month. Reminds me of PAD at his best with the characterisation and dialogue.
Robots in Disguise is a worthy book too (collecting it in trades) but lacks the sparkle of MTMTE.
I reviewed a previous issue of MTMTE here... http://www.comixfan.net/forums/showthread.php?t=49187
