I've only read issue 5 of Batman and Robin. It made me want to go back and read the other issues. I always seem to pick up random issues that contain the villains origins. Same thing happened with Brus Winter Soldier run in Captain America. I'll probably wait and pick up the rest of the issues in trade since Peter and Pats Nobody run seems like it's going to last as long as Scotts Owl run.
In war the elders may give the orders, but it's the young who have to fight.
Lol, when I read "When Worlds Collide" I thought this was a thread about Power Girl & Huntress.
Pull list:
Adventure Time, Batgirl, Batman & Robin, BOP, Earth 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, He-Man, Katana, Nightwing, Shadowman, Swamp Thing, The Ultimates, Ultimate Spider-Man, Worlds' Finest
My first thought was that the Batmobile on the cover looked like Peter Porker: The Amazing Spider-Ham.
Great series though, I honestly can't tell if I prefer this or Snyder's Batman.
This book was the biggest surprise of the new 52 for me as well. Each time it comes out, it's at the top of my pile. Easily my favorite Bat-title of the DCnU.
PULL DC:Batman Inc., Batman, B&R, Flash, WW-MARVEL: New, Young, Uncanny and Vanilla Avengers, DD, JiM, WATXM-IMAGE: Luther Strode, Prophet, Manhattan Projects
I've also been pleasantly surprised at this. Gleason and Gray's art is fantastic and it goes to show just how important a good inker is (see the difference in Gleason's art when somebody else inked him after Gray on GL Corps)
The story has been suitably impressive. Primarily the attraction to the book is that they're just strong, well-told Batman stories without any continuity fluff.
Great stuff.
I agree that the art in this is pretty impressive and that this is one of the better drawn and inked books in the New 52 but I wish I felt the same about the story.
Current Top Ten Comics: Earth 2, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Talon, Demon Knights, Transformers: Regeneration One, Young Avengers, Batman Beyond Unlimited, Nightwing, Flash, Aquaman
I agree with Callahan and the majority of the posters on this thread so far.
I'd had some similar thoughts as to what may be going on with Nobody, but had definitely not thought of Dickinson poem before reading this column. I don't know that I'd ever read the poem at all. It's fun to consider, no matter how (un)likely it is/was to be influencing Tomasi.
Aside from the little vertigo-ish/horror corner, this is my favorite title from DC right now. I hope it's allowed to continue to tell it's own stories (aside from a Court of Owls tie-in, etc.).
The Robin bat-birth cover was something that never occurred to me, but it makes perfect sense now. Very well thought-out article, and I agree with it on almost everything, except that it is the best-looking Bat-title out there. I think that prize goes to Batwoman, which is on another level entirely. However, with writing like what we're getting from Morrison, Snyder, and Tomasi, and the art on their respective titles (along with March on Catwoman), this is a great time to be reading Batman comics.
I've been debating which Bat-books to drop, and I'd narrowed it down to this one or Detective Comics. The awesome #5, combined with 'Tecs impeding price increase helped make my decision.
I love this thread! Let's keep the positivity going.
BUT, it's "When WORDS Collide." W-O-R-D-S.
