    Bandits = Bad people.

People who rob travelelrs for their money aren't exactly Robin Hood sorts. They're generally the lowest kind, the type lazy and vicious enough to make a living off taking other people's livelihood away.

They were quite obviously willing to ambush and murder your group, and only hesitated because they were spotted first, you guys have some obvious warrior types complete with full armor and big weapons, and there was a solid intimidation roll done. Plus, you caved in and paid them - not a lot, but enough that actually taking you guys one was definitely the stupider of the two choices (take some money, try to fight you for everything and maybe be one of the people who dies).

This way, they get money (a fair chunk for bandits!) and live until the next group of travellers - probably less well-armed - happens along.

And it's pretty obvious what happens to them. :(

*edit* Even so, I decided to beat that point home with a sledgehammer.

I realise all of this. But Solomon's entire schtick is "can't we all get along without fighting and be happy?"

The answer, as the game progresses, will clearly be "no".

But for him to initiate a fight at the first opportunity seems way out of character. If Ardelyn, Buffalo, Simon, or even Jared had yelled "HAVE AT YOU, FIENDS!!", he'd totally have had their backs. But I could not rationalise him being the fire-starter.

Plus he's a noble. What do you think a wealthy pacifist would do in the circumstances? If people want fighting (and to be honest, I'm one of those people too), then the other characters are going to have to take the decision out of my hands (unless there's someone torturing babies in front of me or something).

My ingrown toenail once gave me a long term infection. Eventually, I went for an operation and they cut out part of the root.

Seriously, sometimes events just play out the way they do, due to information the players don't know or bad luck. And yeah, sometimes because of this, one simply can't avoid a fight.

Hence, we need a good exit strategy! :D
Yup. And an entry strategy that isn't so complicated it falls apart the moment something goes wrong.

We are awesomely indecisive. Or maybe we're not. We should probably take some time to consider this question more.

Seriously.... the sum total of our achievements thus far is: 1) paying money to bandits, which is kinda what bandits want you to do, really; and 2) Preston climbing a wall to find out absolutely nothing. We've been outside the cult HQ for about a week or more, real-time, and haven't even really tried to get in. It's hilariously pathetic.
Thanks for waiting up for us!

    Alright! I've found the pictures for my next Anima character. Hopefully I don't lose them or forget about them by the time the next game starts, probably some time next year at the earliest. ^_^;

    Next game's in a year?

That's either insanely quick, or the main cast is about to die very soon. oO

Oh, no. I completely get that. Sometimes playing in character, especially when one is playing someone like a rather extreme pacifist, can be tricky and difficult.

It's just that his pacifism seems to have infected everyone else. O_o

I said at the earliest. :) I of course have no idea how long the current campaign will last.

Hmm, clicking on the smilies yields no results at present.

That idea might be off by quite a bit, considering Siriel is ready to take us up to higher levels should he desire. And I'm not prepared to GM anything at the moment. :)

My schedule will have to change sufficiently for me to run a PBP game.

Of course, we COULD all die. I hope not, though.

Well if Avelyn does get killed, then I'll be using my new Anima character earlier than expected. >.>

    Ah, I see.

I figure that depends on what level you guys plan on reaching.

Really? Seems to work for fine me

    This. Yeah, that would suck.

Next time, Ardelyn will be like, "Hey Solomon, you're nice, and I think you're cute and all, but if you don't get out from in front of this bandit, I'm running my sword through the both of you."

    ^_^

It's it's basically the reverse of rabies/fictional zombiefication? Everyone becomes less aggressive and less willing to hurt others? :P

Now this reminds me of The Gamer's: Darkness Rising for no good reason.

    There is that. :(

For me, that would be 'Whatever Level I Reach Depending On How Long Siriel Continues To GM'. :)

    Yeah, that would suck.
I'd rather not have it happen.

    .....

That being said, my character is sadly a prime candidate for dying early, due to a small problem with the word 'retreat' when she gets really honked off.

Well, to be fair, it's also possible that one of your character could decide "Well, we destroyed the evil artifact and saved thousands of people. I think I'll go home and retire with my share of the loot. Maybe train other people or something." at the end of this quest.
Suffering is a fact of life. You survive if you find a reason to endure it.
