Why did he perform the Frankenstein-Murder in the first place?
Maybe he wanted to see if the serum would work before potentially causing harm to his son?

Also, why do these people never inject themselves with things they know work?

Because they need to take side-effects into account.

Sure, Serum A works fine on its own. So does Formula B.

But mix them together and suddenly your head is made of trees.

But there's only one serum involved. So no side-effects from mixing. Though being wary of delayed side effects is a good reason to not inject yourself.

I just realized something about time travel...

    1. Time travel usually places you in the exact same spot, but in a different time. Unless of course it homes in on a certain location of interest.

    2. Depending on the time of the year, the earth is in a different spot, since it revolves around the sun.

Now who's to say you won't end up in space next time you time travel from January to June, or on the other side of the world if you time travel from day to night, unless your time travel gear is set to adjust your location in tune with the Earth's movement?
Louis: "We're gonna find that sailboat right around the corner, you just watch!"

Francis: "Louis, if you don't stop being positive, I'm gonna sink the boat just to make you sad!"

The solar system, the galaxy and the universe are also moving, so even going precisely a year will dump you countless miles out into the void.

Travelling just a little more than 7 minutes forward or backward in time will practically guarantee that you will not be on the Earth, unless you have the means to also travel in space.

Exactly! Makes no sense, but I guess you have to let go of that to properly enjoy it in fiction.

Still, a mention of it in passing wouldn't be so bad.

Wait, the release condition on the Gargoyle's curse was that the Castle would have to rise above the clouds.

    The Scottish Castle.

    Built on Moorland.

This would take, like a week. Tops. Less if it's not Summer.
