By the way, why is nobody discussing the latest issue?? Holy SHIT! spoilers:
Mark breaking his arm on Allen! I guess his powers are gone. I'm sure it's temporary, but that's a game-changer. I love how Kirkman takes all the classic superhero tropes (losing powers, this time) and still brings it about in a fresh way.
end of spoilers I cannot get enough of this book. My wife loves it, too! This and Fables got her into comics. So good.

So the next trade should cover up to issue 91? I just got Ultimate number 7 from the library today, can't wait to read.

The solicit says issues 85 to 90. Although 91 would seem to make more story sense because the next big storyline starts in issue 92 so it seems that would be the logical place to start a new trade. Enjoy reading Ultimate volume 7!

Exactly. Remember that an after-effect of the virus was the infectees had their powers diminished. The virus killed a bunch a Viltrumites and many were killed due to their diminished power levels. Didn't Conquest get his scar when his powers were lessened? Mark will be back to full strength but it's going to be some time before it happens.

This discussion got started over on the Image boards. Thought it would be fun to get the thoughts of people around here as well:

Mark and Eve have been one of the most longrunning relationships in comics in the past decade, and they're a helluva power couple. They're still together now after all they've been through, when is Mark gonna pop the question? It's gotta happen sooner or later folks.

It would have some nice symmetry - they officially got together in issue 50 and then get engaged 50 issues later.

My only reservation is that they are still both young (20 I believe). But then I realize that my wife was 19 when I popped the question (I'm an older cradle robber) and 20 when we got married and that's worked out well. Some people are ready by that point. And I don't think Mark and Eve are typical 20 year olds with everything they've been through.

Plus I'd like to see it from a story stand point. Their relationship has been one of the major through lines of the entire series right from issue 2. I'd love to see it get a spotlight and payoff with a major milestone issue coming up (and it would be nice to see a happy stunt for a change in a milestone issue instead of something like a death which most people expect these days).

Also, besides just loving their dynamic together, I'd love to see a writer tackle this. Like PsychoGoatee said, most writers like to have a revolving door of romantic partners to make writing the soap opera side of things easier. That's one of the main reason that Marvel broke up the Peter Parker/MJ marriage. Why DC didn't have Clark Kent and Lois Lane together in the new 52. Why, outside of Reed and Sue Richards, you almost never see a stable long running relationship/marriage. I think it would be interesting to see a writer buck this trend and come up with ways to keep a long term stable relationship interesting and fun. Kirkman's done it for 50 issues so far and I know he could keep it going. It would actually be something relatively uncommon in comics.

I just finished Ultimate 7. The war wasn't as epic as I thought it was gonna be, I thought the initial defeat of Conquest was more powerful. Though the ending creates some interesting scenarios. I don't think I can wait until July, I need the next issues!

There's no way I could wait. I wouldn't be able to resist picking up the trades and singles to get caught up.

The Ultimate Collections are definitely badass, every comic should get released that way.

So, I usually avoid checking out the solicits, but I was curious when issue 92 hits (June 13th), and hot damn these next three issues look legendary. Can't wait to see Ottley and Walker working together on these.

I hoping that it means we get a stepped up release schedule like we did when Walker did issues 85 and 86. And I can't wait to see what happened between Robot and Monster Girl!
