I bring good tidings and previews.
Not following Invincible, but I'd be worried if I was a fan of the Guardians.

Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Ha, that sounds foreboding. I will refrain from clicking on that preview, gonna go in cold.

Oh when misunderstandings go horribly wrong
Child Of The Atom Smasher
thragg's been awfully restrained (besides decapitating thaedus) since the destruction of his home planet- dude can only hold his temper back for so long. allen and oliver seem to have gotten lucky going by that preview, but attacking the alpha viltrumite unprovoked can't end well...
Is the last page with the black invincible a parody of ultimate Spider man ?

So issue 88 is out today!! Damn!! Man has this book been on fire for the last 4 issues. Absolutely not quite what I was expecting and I loved it. My quick thoughts:
spoilers:end of spoilers
- So not only is Thragg the strongest man around, he's apparently one of the smartest as well. He was pretty much completely awesome all issue. Nice to see someone laying out how stupid Allen was being here. And Allen actually listened, which surprised me. On the downside - No epic Allen vs Thragg fight. On the upside - One of my previous favorite characters (Allen) was redeemed and became likable again. Continuing the latest thing in this series where problems are resolved with words and truces rather then fists. Kirkman tends to take a left when I expect him to take a right.
- Guardians. Sigh. I know they have to do their jobs. But really, what were they going to accomplish? Mark could take them all by himself and that's without the help of the other two giant scary dudes sitting there with him. Everything would have been fine if they had just stayed away.
- I actually thought Mark was going to have to kill Oliver to stop him when he had to go chase him. On the downside - Mark might be dying. On the further downside - Oliver is not. Wow, I'm not sure a comic character for me has ever gone so fast from tolerable to "god I hope they kill him" as that little dick. I doubt I will ever want anything but death for that little jerk after these last few issues.
- It should go without saying, but Ottley's art looks fantastic as always. It's so nice when you enjoy looking at a book's art as much as you enjoy reading the story. That's what really elevates the book as a whole to the top tier.
- I wonder if Thragg was telling the truth about not having all the Viltrumites on Earth. I'm now picturing a story in future years where we think the V threat is gone but then learn that a few V's had been undercover on other planets as well building up armies there that were supposed to eventually reunite with the Earth V's.
I hate having to wait a month to find out what happens. Ryan tweeted on Monday that he was finishing up 89 this week so that looks like the end of the every 3 weeks shipping schedule. Hopefully they can keep it coming out monthly. I'd grade this issue at an A+. Loving how things have been going.

Yeah, it was just before April 1. The first reveals of Miles Morales weren't until the end of the Death of Spiderman arc around June I think. I'm too lazy to go look things up right now so I'll offer anecdotal evidence - I remember thinking when the first promos for Ultimate Spiderman came out that people would think Kirkman was copying it because his character's debut wasn't until 2012 and Invincible isn't as well known. So I knew of the Invincible character before the first Miles Morales promo.

Here, I decided to quit being lazy and actually find evidence for my claim. The reveal of Miles Morales as black came either August 1st or 2nd by the dates of all the press releases when I googled it:

Which is four months after the April fool's day reveal of Invincible.

ya, you're right man. i knew for sure the invincible reveal was april fool's day give or take a day, and i must have gotten confused about the usm reveal considering i'm not a spider-man (especially ultimate) reader. i must have been thinking about the death of spider-man reveal, which i think leaked around january or so with rumors abound.
is everyone's money on bulletproof?
