"Horror in Gold" just came out about a month ago.

I read the first book, "The Desert Demons". Very Good.

I know that Will had done some Doc Savage novels a while back, but I didn't know he was doing it again. In light of the stories he's done in the past, I'll look for these books.

Murray's DOC stories are based on Lester Dent Outlines.
So its almost like Dent himself is writting these new stories but with Murray
own little spin.

I also recommand the DOC SAVAGE audio books by Radio Archives.
3 have come out so far based on the Murray/Dent stories there were publish
in the early 90's.
Python Isle, White Eyes, and the Jade Orge.

Python Isle, White Eyes and The Jade Ogre were the older Murray books that I referred to above (which I apprarently read in the early 1990's)/.

"Skull Island" - the Doc Savage/King Kong book - is out now. Will Murray's Doc Savage books look interesting, but I have never read any of the original stories, so I'm reading "Man of Bronze" for the first time right now.

If you like the originals, you'll probably like the new ones. Murray works hard at keeping them sounding like the old pulps, if longer.

But Skull Island is different. It's mostly a tale of Doc's early days, after WWI and before The Man of Bronze. The assistants only appear in the framing sections, and the book delves into Doc's relationship with his father, his feeling about the unique way in which he was raised, and raises some questions about his mother. It's good stuff, but there's a reason it was published under Murray's own name, and not the Robeson name.

Plus, I would have liked to see more of Kong.

Good to know. I picked up an Operator #5 novel the other day, and it has me thinking about dipping my toe into some other pulp heroes. I hear that Doc Savage is one of the most popular.

Just finish reading DOC SAVAGE: SKULL ISLAND.
Very Good. Like the look into Doc past and his relationship with his father and grandfather.
It did seem to get a little repetitive with the Headhunter attacks. And where were the natives of Skull Island?
They seem got push to the sidelines.
All in All a solid read, B+.

I hope at some point RADIO ARCHIVES make an audio book.

Doc Savage was one of my favs back in the 70's. I didn't know they were writing new ones. Great. I always wondered why modern Hollywood hasn't grabbed in on this proerty.

Is there a heavy continuity among the books, or can I just pick one and run with it? Because The Infernal Buddha looks and sounds awesome.

Or I might start with Skull Island, if only to read about my uncle Kong.
