that well contained and manageable zombie apocalypse would sure make a compelling ongoing comic...

so I was thinking, with the most recent trade hitting this thread still seems kind of quiet in regards to its content. maybe it's just been overshadowed by the events of issue 98, but, should we maybe have a 'current issue' thread and a separate 'trade waiters' thread? seems like maybe trade waiters steer clear of this thread because we're always talking about the next couple of issues.

    thoughts?

If a significant military presence was at a remote base then chances of taking over are far better. Also, you'd think rotting corpses would eventually decompose to the point of being unable to pursue and that survivors would just be set after that as long as precautions are taken with new dead.
I think Kirkman was kind of hinting at the decomposition thing when he had Health find that one walker in the ditch that was rotted pretty far away. I'm in agreement with you that I think a remote military base would be pretty safe but anything that is a large population center would be trouble. And we saw examples of what happens when you stay put in an open area inside a house even if you are pretty well armed. You can get overrun by sheer number.

I still think being well armed is overrated against the herds too. Let's not pretend that everyone is a crack shot that never misses the head like in the comic or TV show. The majority of us could unload a clip without ever hitting the head, let alone shooting 10 of the things straight in the head. Slow-moving or not.

Not a bad idea as long as there's enough traffic in each issue thread to justify a separate one. It would be nice not to have to worry about spoiler tags when talking about new issues and it would make it easier for trade waiters to avoid spoilers.

I think most of the traffic in this thread is the people reading single issues.

is anyone here a trade waiter that posts regularly?

I just re read the last 14 issues last night/today.

Ultimately the Alexandria arc leaves a little something to be desired. Maybe the setting is a little bland, and they never really go anywhere? Maybe it's the large cast of characters that I'm not entirely invested in. I'm not sure. I like the stories being told, and like the characters I do have an investment in. So I'm not sure what it is. I'll be happy if they expand outside of the community with and after Something To Fear.

There's a moment when Glenn and Maggie (and others) are off looking for supplies in Dc and it cuts back to Abe at the gate and he says that they should be back by that evening...

This is something the show made me think of, but I'd like to see someone(s) vanish, never to be found. A situation like that one where a character or two we know and care about as well as some red shirts set out to forage for supplies and simply never return. No explanation is ever given. We know as much as the rest of the cast and that's nothing.

I think at this point that would be more frightening than another killing or zombie bite death.

Anyway, just something I thought of.

I'm a trade waiter/singles kind of guy. I spy in and out of the thread with my Neuralyzer that will smith gave me. Every time i sense spoilers i just set the settings and bam memory erased.

Once compendium 2 comes i can read my singles for issues #92 forward. #92 is the most backed issues i was able to get and chronicle. I did manage to get a 1st print of issue #14 for $4

I can't say where i got it though. Walking dead sells like hot cakes and I want to be first on them. I just missed a NM #11 1st print for $5 .

Sorry my video is so long. I need views and subscribers though so I'm posting here. Hope to start reviews really soon.

Cool idea in theory but I could see characters X&Y that disappeared being an unending fanbait question type thingie. See: that russian guy in the Sopranos who kept running or Walt in Lost as loose ends people would bring up incessantly & the creators would probably never bring a straight answer.

I don't think dumb readers is a reason to not do something. Not that TWD is a very subtle book, but I thought the lack of an answer is what would make it frightening.

Its already been done... not with a member of Team Grimes.... but Andrew from the prison ran off and was never heard from again. People still ask what happened to him... and Kirkman answered, but not in the book.

Yea this is what I was going to say, but couldn't remember the guy's name. That said it would be a little different having them lose people they actually cared about. The reaction by Team Grimes would be very different. It would be especially interesting if it was a team of tough guys that disappeared since it would be more frightening wondering what the hell took them down.

    Andrew...

yeah, I meant, as in my example of Glenn and Maggie, someone we, or the characters in the book give a shit about. Sophia in the tv show was what made me first think of it. as that story got drawn further and further out, I thought, man it'd be pretty scary if they just never found her. no explanation. just lost in to the world. there's a scene like that in Blindness, and it creeped me the fuck out.

I think it's frightening because there isn't a bow wrapped around it. for us, for the characters in the book. nobody knows. just lost and gone forever.

    Greetings from Alexandria: http://www.thewalkingdeadnewsfeed.co....html?spref=fb

    That's the 5-page preview.

I didn't chime in last issue. I'm going to miss Abe. He was badass enough to finish his thoughts with an arrow in his head - I still don't think that's a badass enough ending for his character.

I was planning on getting a walking dead tattoo featuring Rick in the center, Michonne off to one side, and Abe on the other, based upon a recent final panel in A Larger World. I decided to wait until after #100, because any of those three could die.

Now I'm chickening out. Maybe in another year or something.

I think it would be scary as hell for someone - let's say Glenn, Maggie, and Sophia - to simply disappear. Kirkman wouldn't do that to an early character like Glenn, but it sure would be frightening.

On the preview: it's worth noting that the zombie clearing party features Glenn, so they must have all zombies cleared out from in front of the gates. Rick is at an impasse, Carl seems accepting of their new relationship, and Andrea looks great with her hair down. The last time Glenn hightailed it out of danger, they survived a massacre. This time, I think they might be walking into one.

Okay, Children. #99. Haven't read it yet? Spoilers will follow. you have been warned.

so like, not much really happens this issue. it's all just set up for 100. (is that issue more story pages than usual?)

but Rick leaves for Hilltop to gain some 'insight' on the Saviors... okay? what? I don't get that. does that make any sense? suddenly rick needs his council... or some shit. bits like this feel like a character being written in a way only to progress plot. there's no logical sense behind this for Rick. Rick isn't that guy. Rick's the man of action. Rick always has a plan when shit goes wrong. so I'm not sure that actually made proper sense for the character, but whatever, Rick has bailed with Glenn and Maggie in tow. The Saviors wait outside the gates to attack at cliche, I mean, DAWN!!!

so we wait for things to happen in 100.

there's an interesting visual during Rick's meeting scene. that group shot? Glenn's face is entirely blacked out. I know it probably doesn't mean anything, but it's interesting the one who wants to leave for the safer Hilltop is visually removed from that scene.
also? how many giant vans do they have? The have the white one with the windows and the one with the totally sweet Eagle design on the side. why wouldn't they take the bad ass eagle van? don't they want to fly like an eagle? in to the future?

    spoilers:
So I'm with the gdbatman here. Yet another example of writing the character in a way that progresses the plot. I get the need for additional manpower because they don't know what they're dealing with, but Rick just rolled out with essentially his entire council. Besides leaving behind Andrea (great, fav character, left in the worst situation). I mean come on does that make any sense? He knows nothing about the number of the other side, but he knows that his community is disorganized without leadership. And what does he do, leaves with all the battle tested people. Why not send out a party of people with Glenn who wants to go to the Hilltop anyway?

Now, it looks like things are getting set up for the community to take a massive amount of losses. Pretty much the opposite, of what I want to see happen. All for the sake of doing the most depraved thing Kirkman could think of. Yay! [sarcasm]. If this goes poorly, I could see jumping ship a few issues after 101. Kirkman has earned the right to be trusted so I'd give him one more arc to keep me on board, but sorry this just stinks of saving a few characters he wants to keep playing with while leaving everyone else out to dry. I hope he proves me wrong though.
    end of spoilers

    I really hope that spoilers:
the inevitable attack on Alexandria doesn't leave all of the supporting characters dead in #100. That's what it seems to be setting up to do... with only Andrea there to defend it, what are their chances? Aaron, Eric, Olivia, Rosita, Denise, Holly... it's not looking good for any of them, and that sucks. I'm going to be sorely disappointed if the only people walking out of #100 alive are the core main cast (minus one or two, most likely, for shock value).
    end of spoilers
