Why Do Superhero Fans Fear Drama?

I just hate having characters undignified and brutalized just for the sake of cheap pathos. Once the companies stop equating drama with misery and realism with gore, then maybe I will stop hating the darkness.

There's nothing wrong with looking silly if that's what you started out to do. However if you're trying to be serious and end up looking silly, then you've pretty much failed on every level... and it's really hard not to look silly when your jumping around rooftops in tights. For that matter, you can make the suits leather with seams and piping or make the costumes armor, but people are still going to look at them and see tights.

right....but the issue is some get it in their head that dark grim gritty and serious is the way to acceptance

Frankly i have seen my love for superhero stories have been broken to pieces by all these darker for darkness stories. What drew me into genre was fun superhero, few dark stories. Im looking for any rare fun story. Im canceling superhero comics just because im sick for cheap drama, darkness.

I watched Max Fliesher's Superman animation DVD recently and i was smiling the whole time. Sure Superman in those shorts are very old school but the stories was fun like any good superhero is today. The modern version that is fun, makes you think this is fun adventure are almost gone.

I think we grow up seeing superheroes not just as icons but real people. Even when we grow up and know different it still leaves an unpleasant sensation when we see one get raped or killed.

I want mature content. But I want fun mature content. Ribaldry, bawdiness, and bondage played for fun are things I am happy to read. Snuff porn and other forms of sexualized violence are not of interest.
