I've never underappreciated letterers--these guys and gals are artists in their own right, and add a lot to the storytelling. Janice Chiang, Rick Parker, Sam Rosen, Joe Rosen, Artie Simek, Tom Orezchowski, John Workman, John Costanza, Todd Klein--they all made the books they worked on their own.

Lettering is definitely something I took for granted up until recently when I started having to letter my own comics. There's a lot that goes into it that I never even thought of.

writers or editors who treat a complete, lettered issue like a first draft, making substantial revisions on every page. Not cool. Letterers get paid once; they shouldn't have to letter an issue twice
Yes! This! A thousand times: this!

It is an art that is just overlooked, you only realize it when a book is badly lettered, or you try it yourself.
    More credit to letterers!
