I'm frankly sick of them casting swimsuit models and soap opera actresses as supposed action heroes. They were able to cast Thor and Captain America with actors who looked like they could actually throw a punch and take one; why shouldn't they do the same with the female characters.

Gina? That picture is photo shopped heavily. She is actually a pretty strudy lady. She's an MMA fighter so she could handle the action. I can't say much for her acting though. She will actually be in an action movie soon though. It's called Haywire....http://www.haywiremovie.com/#/videos/2

Man, I can't tell you how happy I was when I read an article proposing to use Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman waaay back in 2002. I was always disappointed she never seemed to be a consideration for casting choices.

I'm just going to flat out say no actress will match the Wonder Woman fans vision of WW no matter how spot on they might be.

    Thats true.

Chris Evans isn't exactly the spitting image of Captain America or the Human torch, but he played those parts fairly well.

As long as they're close visualy its fine.

Though to be honest I'm not so much worried about the actress as I am the writer. After watching that horrible wonder woman pilot I'm afraid that they'll completely miss the point to this character and just make her the "overly agressive amazon warrior" stereotype that some try to put out. (For some reason thats still better than lonely thirty-something with a cat stereotype they tried to pull as well)

Also that coustume in that picture, fan made or not, is freaking awsome and perfect for a movie adaptation. They should go with something exactly like that. I don't know about anybody else I've always liked the more skirtish look of WW more than the star studed panties look.

Since I was a little girl, I've tried to model myself after Wondier Woman. This has led me to "feel" what she would be like personality-wise had she ever existed.

There can be several forms she can take that would be considred true to form.

But Gina Carano is nowhere near that. Its the wrong personality.

Gina may be a wonder woman, but she's no Diana the Wonder Woman.

This is what I'm talking about. No matter if it's Gina or some other actress they will never live up to the fans vision of Wonder Woman appearance wise. You will always have that fan that says [insert actress here] is too short, not too pretty, not tall enough, too Barbie like to play Wonder Woman. At the end of the day we have to accept whoever they cast as WW isn't going to be perfect but all I hope is that whoever the actress may be will capture the personality of WW

    Before we continue remember this:

There is no Wonder Woman film in production now.

    Carry on.

I was just about to say this. Still, Nicolas Winding Refn has been pretty enthusiastic about doing it. And after watching Drive, I like him very much as a director. But he admitted that WB would want someone more established. Apparently, if his Logan's Run is a success, he may get a shot at making a Wonder Woman film. But even that is a while off.

But more on topic, I'm not sure I like Gina Carano for the role. I'm sure she can handle action but acting always takes priority in my opinion. Besides, today with martial arts trainers and fancy editing, you can make pretty much anyone look convincing in a fight. I mean, who knew prior to The Bourne Identity that Matt Damon could like bad-ass in a fight?

I'm really tired of all these "bad actress who happens to look like WW or play a similar role (Regan), or built up woman who happens to have the body for WW (Carano) should be cast as her" discussions.

May i remind you that Bale and Cavill werent so buff before they played their respective superhero roles? Just pick up a good actress who looks the part and i'm sure that with a few months of training she can gain that physique.

Also Chris Evans was the last guy I would want to see cast as Captain America but he made the role work. A good script writer also deserves credit as he also plays a part in making or breaking a superhero character thats being adapted for a live action film

But they chose him based on his skills and looks, not because he played a similar role in another movie or because he was buff.

The former reason is why people like Regan (who looks average and is a horrible actress) and the latter is why people like Carano and other women like her.

I'd rather they pick a good actress who also looks the part and just put her through training to give her the appropriate muscle tone, but hey, its not like they'll be making a WW movie any time soon.

Yeah the closest thing we will get to a Wonder Woman movie is in animated format. Depending on if we'll even get that
