The injury ending sucked all the joy out of an otherwise good first episode.

They're clearly setting that Matt guy up to take a fall. If this were any other show I'd say they were misleading us on that point but... this is Survivor.

Also, what was with that Alicia chick? She gets mad at one of her tribe mates for bargaining for fire, yet she was one of the ones willing to dance naked for it the day before?

Woman please.(although the fact that none of the women could start a fire was kinda disappointing)

Honestly though, with a full challenge and actual tribal it would have been a great first episode.

I honestly didn't expect them to be that divided living in the same area, some of those guys really took it seriously. Not that they shouldn't, they're playing for a million bucks after all, but some of them were real arrogant and douchey about it (Jay, Matt, and Michael, in particular). I couldn't stand Colton, but I hope he manages to blindside one of those three with the idol. Leif seemed like a good guy, Jonas seemed allright and Bill was the least abrasive of that 4 guy alliance. Troy looks like the kind of guy who's mouth is going to get him into trouble, looking forward to that. What is it with old guys and their nicknames? I was cringing last season when that guy gave himself that "papa bear" nickname, and now Greg Smith = Tarzan...ugh.

Oh girls, get rid of Alicia quickly, what a toxic personality right from the get-go. I became an instant fan of Chelsea when she caught those two chickens (and hey, pretty easy on the eyes too), she's my early pick to root for. Didn't have much of a problem with the rest of the girls, other than their very quick need/dependence on the men. Sabrina lamenting about who she was going to give the idol to was a bit annoying, like we didn't know it was going to Colton. Hopefully they'll be able to keep their fire going this time around.

Bad break (no pun intended) for Kourtney.

I was kind of hoping Kourtney would stick around. Quirky and cute. However, if she hadn't hurt her wrist, I think she would have been one of the first targets as it seemed some of the girls already perceived her as a weak link.

Good start but it seems like more pretty people than ever. I could watch a lot of Chelsea, but I'm not sure anyone is packing any brains this time around.

I think I'll end up rooting for Jonas and Leif from the guys and Chelsea and Monica from the gals, just by first impression.

Overall, it appears to be a bunch of yucksters populating the beach.

I became an instant fan of Chelsea when she caught those two chickens (and hey, pretty easy on the eyes too), she's my early pick to root for.

That made her that much hotter. A good-looking broad who can actually do something 17 other people couldn't.

I can't recall who started the fire, and he may turn out to be a putz, but I kind of respected that also, the way he was inspecting the bamboo to make sure it had the right surface to get hot and smoke.

I was disappointed in the guys not finishing the challenge. They had a one-person lead and I think beating the girls outright would have a larger psychological effect than just taking the forfeit. And even if they would have lost, it's easier to weed out riff-raff in the beginning to make the team stronger.

Jay was the one who started the fire and that was pretty impressive. In the men's tribe , it's going to be fratboys vs the misfits and it's going to be explosive.

I agree. The "One World" concept turned out really well, with lots of tension and bargaining. It's too bad it ended with an injury.

Best moment was when Christina told Alicia to SHUT UP. LOL she wasn't expecting that, she's all bark an no bite. I hope Alicia is gone ASAP.

The challenge was moronic. It was obvious someone would be injured in that fall. The whole 'put your hands on your chest' thing works awesome if you're heavy. For someone light as Kourteney, she would have bounced out of the net, probably.

Most of the guys are douchebags. I like Chelsea and Monica from the girls, and Christina scored points on Tribal.

Damn, Kortney was so cute. yeah, she probably wouldn't have fit in and been gone early anyway, but she was so cute... I wanted her to stick around.

Alicia though... wow. She is trying to get rid of the one girl that was able to negotiate a deal for fire... why? She thinks it was a shady deal? There was nothing shady... and it got them fire (maybe, we never actually saw them get fire). Though I firmly believe that she believes there was something shady going on, even though she was right there. She's just too dumb to understand what was happening... and she needs to put some clothes on... she looks gross.

I can't believe the girls stole fire and then lost it... come on, that's lame.

None of the guys stood out to me, they all seemed like meatheads, except for the annoying gay guy.

I am now rooting for Chelsea. She caught those chickens (and I don't blame the girls for keeping them after the guys stole all their stuff), and she's easy to look at.

Yeah, I can't believe that Chelsea and Kimberly (both of whom seem to be pretty smart) would decide to stick with their alliance that they formed on day one, and has been shown to be full of dummies.
