Not knowing any of the players here well enough to blame this one them, I have my own theories.

Vulture flew into the power lines trying to attack Spidey at the Daily Bugle.

The Kingpin is showing us his power even before his release.

The reactor that makes electricity for Villianville gave out because it couldn't power the arc between Doom's statues anymore.

Aunt May blew a breaker cooking all those pies.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is blocking the internet for our protection.

Hulk stuck a penny in a light socket on a dare.

It's Reid Richards and all the other 350 gold heroes going on strike and demanding their prices be raised too because they're more valuable than they're priced at.

I don't know exactly how updates work; however, here's my take on what happened.

They started the update. Everything looked fine, as usual. They went home for the night assuming the update would complete as it always does. There was a problem with the update. Now it is 5:30 AM on the West Coast and everyone is still in bed with no idea about the update failing.

Again, I have no idea, and I'm not sure this idea is any better than Indigo Platipus breaking the game... They might both make about as much sense.

I have to agree! Usually when it is a scheduled time to go down it is at night and they also let us know ahead of time that it will happen!!! I really hope nothing major happened!!!
