Well Valiant was involved with Deathmate .
And Fred Van Lente and Duane swierczynski, plus a lot of talented artists. I think there is a market out there if you look at the lack of other shared universes outside the Big 2. I expect the Dynamite and IDW crossovers to do very well and those are only temporary. Plus the relaunched Extreme books have done pretty well thus far by following a similar strategy of reinventing characters with excellent creative teams. As long as they don't overextend themselves and embrace digital, I think they can do well. Look at the sales charts and there is no reason to think they couldnt move into the top 6-8 publishers by next year.
VALIANT, Saga, Manhattan Projects, Locke & Key, Hawkeye, Young Avengers.
So far, I have been pre-ordering Valiant stuff through DCBS. I'm pretty excited for the relaunch and if things are good, I hope that we'll have another indy company putting out quality books for years to come.
Today, I make no demands... no threats! But, one day, I shall voice demands -- and all shall obey them!
Liking the new logo, glad they kept the original design, only one more week to go.
Favorites: Fearless Defenders* New Avengers* Bloodshot* Shadowman* Archer & Armstrong
Newsarama has a good interview with David Aja about designing all the new looks for the characters. Here's the link:http://www.newsarama.com/comics/davi...h-designs.html
He did great on updating their looks.
I'm definitely looking forward to X-O Man O War. That book looks aweome. The other books do look pretty cool too though.
Saw via Valiants twitter that XO #1 has sold out at Diamond...a great omen for the success of the book. Can't get any better PR than a book selling out and having to go back to print! Hopefully news like that will increase orders for the other three titles and waylay any fears of those waiting to jump on board the relaunch.
VALIANT, Saga, Manhattan Projects, Locke & Key, Hawkeye, Young Avengers.
Wow! Diamond has sold out of X-O #1 already?! That's awesome news and I'm sure the book is going to be a success upon launch, I just hope it can maintain it's readership as it continues along.
I'm excited even thought i didn't read any of the original valiant.
All four look awesome.
I even got inspired to write a Generator Rex?Valiant relaunch crossover.
I didn't read any of the original Valiant, so since these books are hard reboots starting off at the very beginning and since this iteration of Valiant isn't the same true company as the original, I'm sure others (like me) will be viewing this as a brand new company with brand new characters hitting the shelves. I'm excited about it, to say the least.
My pull list looks like my early 90's list with titles from DC/Marvel/Image & Valiant. The only company missing from my list is...Malibu(Ultraverse).
Huge fan of the old Valiant (espically pre unity) which I still re-read all the time. Those pre unity comics are damn near magical in my eyes. Im very excited for the new launch, but still sceptical. There is so much potential and I hope it catches on. I will give the first few issues a shot.
I got burned by Shooter's pretty awful Gold Key relaunch of his old Valiant books recently. I wont stick around just to stick around if they are crap. All signs are looking good though. Thats probably a very unfair comparison though cause Shooter's new Gold Key stuff was just so dated.
