I just found out something shocking about a person I used to know. Really shocking. I won't publicly state something but it was some VERY serious, VERY criminal offenses.

    I'm still in shock.

This must be how Spider-Man felt when he learned his best friend's father was the Green Goblin.

(Sorry. Bad joke. I don't know how else to take this news.)
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

It was. I can't emphasize enough that all of this is very serious. And note in the goofy internet way we all talk about comic books here.

Was it something he did now, or something that had happened a long time ago?

And obviously I understand if you don't want to elaborate about it.

From my understanding, it would have been relatively recently.

It really begs the question. "How well can you know another person?"

You don't know, because rationale thinking differs from one person to the next. If someone is say in a bind, the unexpected becomes an option.

Question For Anyone Who Knows The Answer

I just saw in another thread that the Ultimate Universe is now being called 1610. And a lot of people call the regular Marvel U. 616. Who assigns these numbers? I'm pretty sure they don't come from Marvel. Are they arbitrary? Is there some lonely dude sitting in his mother's basement coming up with a numbering system for any and all possible universes? Or is there actually some logical reason that escapes me?

They do come from Marvel, in the various handbooks and whatnot.

EDIT: Also, Earth-1610 isn't a new designation. If memory serves, it was in promotional material even before the first UU issue.

His memory's gone! Or...is it? It's not hard to fake amnesia! The Goblin is capable of anything!

No kidding. I never would have thought that. I'm fairly certain that Wacker, Slott, and Brevoort have all said that they think the numbered universes are stupid. I just assumed they were fan created. Thanks for the reply though.

I think it was Moore who 1st coined the term '616' for the main Marvel U when he wrote Captain Britain (which delt heavily with the multiverse). It was soon adopted by other writers/editors.

    here's the wiki entry:
