I'm not very familiar with Liu or Perkins, but I'm definitely interested enough in the cast itself to give this title an opportunity to impress me.

But does that say more about the X-Men than Gambit or Wolverine? I tend to think it does say alot about team dynamics given things like X-Force.

Gambit's non existant childhood mention was a nice touch. Finally someone remembers that when explaining why he's at the school.

Wolverine is on way too many teams. I wonder whos going to be field leader when Wolverine backs off (alot hopefully)?

Yeah it seems Iceman is suddenly getting a lot of all kinds of attention suddenly as soon as Wolverine recognizes him.

Warbird sounds very generic alien warrior right now.

Does Northstar really need so much focus on his personal life? I guess my not knowing whats going on it Alpha Fight might help asnwer that.

I'm not sure that Mike Perkin's art is the best fit for this title- I like his stuff, but I think a book that seems to be focused on being adult and about character moments would be better with Phil Noto. Plus, he's Phil Noto. He does atmosphere.

I'm excited for Iceman/Gambit/Wolverine interaction. I love WATXM, but bromantic conversations is not what it's about. There better be beer in the first arc.

With the exception of Wolverine, not much attention has been given to Gambit or Iceman in the least few years. So the more meaningful banter Liu gives them is more canon under their belt... Hopefully it'll be valuable canon.

Perkins: Massively powerful. Think about it. The air around you, the water in your body -- all completely controllable by Iceman. It's probably heresy to say so but I believe he's potentially more powerful than Magneto.

Liu: Iceman is extremely powerful. He's an omega-level mutant who hasn't yet tapped his potential, which is something Warbird will recognize -- and find incredibly attractive.

I appreciate that they both "get" Iceman's abilities, but I dislike how they emphasize his jokester mentality. At least in WATXM it's been toned down a little to a more tolerable level.
