As a Marvel fan, what is disconcerting is the % drop-off seen from issue #1 to #2, #2 to #3. This exemplifies what many on this board have said, and that Marvel needs to start writing good comics that people want to read each month.
I did try several DC titles, and don't enjoy any of the big guns (Action, JL, Detective). I did make an honest effort of trying 4 issues of each. I'm now only reading Frankenstein and All-Star Western.
EDIT: To be deleted.

Curious which other books you tried. Haven't been reading Action monthly but I find Morrison is a hard writer to get in to on a monthly basis. And Detective Comics is probably the worst Batman book out there, from what I've read.
Did you happen to try Scott Snyder's Batman? How about Aquaman or Animal Man?
Not trying to convert you but if you're still open to try out some books from the competition I'd recommend those. They're pretty universally friendly titles I think, and well-written.
