    Default My New Ultimate Purchase

Sometimes you have to get yourself Christmas presents, and I'm a big fan of what I got myself this year.

That's right, it's an original character design sketch for the fan-favorite GELDOFF by Mark Bagley! If you feel like you've seen it before, it's because you have - it's featured in the back of USM #100 (albeit very small, compared to the rest of the sketches). It's complete with notes to Bendis about the design ideas and, of course, a signature of Bagley himself.

    It's okay to be jealous.

I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others

Jealousy rising. Rising. Rising! RISING! Ok now I'm fine

Cool man, that's a sweet piece of art. Every self-respecting Ultimate Spider-Man fan should own something Geldoff-related.

Now here's the real question: How much?
    Ghostbusters • Injustice: Gods Among Us • Invincible • Invincible Universe • Ultimate Spider-Man • Superior Spider-Man • Ultimates • Ultimate Wolverine • Ultimate X-Men • The Walking Dead

OK That's pretty damn cool. Especially as Geldoff is the cult character of the Ultimate Universe!

Only $65, including shipping, which I really felt was a good price for something like this. I really wanted to get an actual interior page, but all the ones I wanted were at least four times as expensive (and some had 3 zeroes). And I'm saving up for some Immonen pages.

Plus, after seeing this in person, I really feel like it's better than a lot of Bagley's interior work. I now see why they originally wanted to do Brilliant without inks, because I think his art looks better as pencils only.

Exactly! It's especially cool, too, as this represents about 100% of the Geldoff memorabilia out in the world. If only they would make an action figure...

I guess you misread the word "HIS"!

Inks by Scott Hanna ruined Mark Bagley's art for me, he made it look muddy and the lines were too thick. From what I see from that pencil art, Bagley's artwork is beautiful. The best inker for Bagley is Art Thibert, hands down.

I remember the guy who penciled Marvels: Eye of the Camera drew so well they decided not to ink his art and published it as pencils with digital colors.

Did you have to get the margins or did it already come packaged like that?

What kind of websites sell original comic book art? I need to start researching my dream comic room

Great Christmas present by the way!

Going through all of the posts before me this is the only time "his" showed up.

I finally put it on the wall yesterday, after framing it three weeks ago.

Right next to my Ben Folds Australia poster. It's a good wall.
