    Default Upcoming Itinerary

First, just let me say, I'm VERY grateful for all the responses to the NEW POLL that have been posted so far. Some of you really went above & beyond in terms of content, which I didn't expect, and I'm SO glad you did... 'cause I think it's absolutely great! It takes things to another level, IMHO, and totally enhances the experience of finding out other people's choices. Thank you. As a whole, your MIA hero lists each held some surprising & unconventional picks, as well as interesting(... perhaps strategic?) placement. Reading(and seeing some of) them has been entertaining, inspiring, & encouraging, not to mention informative & insightful. Once again, much thanX to all who've participated up til this point.

Overall, everybody's done excellent, but there are a few exceptions that need to be addressed. Please read on below, under "The NEW POLL Guide", for further details. Here's a brief summary of my upcoming plans for the thread, that I intend to complete over the next 24 to 48 hours or so:

Updates: Some minor fixes to the "Upcoming Heroes" post here, http://forums.comicbookresources.com...&postcount=111; adding in all of Womprat's wonderful new Fan Art Icons that are presently missing, to 1 of 3 categories, here, http://forums.comicbookresources.com...&postcount=113, here, http://forums.comicbookresources.com...&postcount=114, & here, http://forums.comicbookresources.com...&postcount=115(Wait til you see his latest, Domino & Jubilee, THEY ARE AMAZING!!! Also gots Cannonballz now too, woo-hoo!!); providing links to all the above & probably more in...

"The NEW POLL Guide": Here, http://forums.comicbookresources.com...&postcount=122. Due to the nature of only but a few entries, I've nonetheless found it necessary to retroactively implement some new stipulations under "Rules" also. They will center on a "minimum requirement" when it comes to the number of heroes listed & a maximum total of iterations that can be included, based on a as yet undetermined "% amount". All posts not in compliance with the new demands & restrictions will HAVE to be corrected in order to count. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but there will be plenty of time, so please don't worry.

My Reaction: In a blanket response highlighting each of your lists & the first thing that jumped out at me, taking me by surprise. As an example, we'll take Virgo's, and it would be her #4 pick... the mysterious & highly intriguing Clea. Can't wait to discuss her! And many others, 'cause as I said, each of you made some rather out-of-the-box choices.

And More: Posting long overdue responses to Magenta Hydra, Trainguy111, & Anodyne; a categorized "Available Heroes Reference Chart"; creating & presenting more of my own original MIA Heroes Icon Fan Art; a Brothers Hildebrandt Marvel characters collage for Castel & other assorted works that I've randomly decided on doing... there's prolly more, but for right now, that's all I can think of & THAT's enough! Lol.

Note: You're gonna hate this, but just very recently, I've been made aware of some really BIG stuff concerning this thread! Unfortunately, I'm not at liberty to divulge ANYTHING at this time, even the most cryptic of clues. What I can tell ya tho, is that it's good... REAL GOOD!!!!!!!

Hi! I've read over that link and can't find a minimum requirement, did I miss it somewhere?

And I wonder if that "REALLY GOOD!" thing is that someone's using this thread as an indicator of which heroes they should actually put in the game next. ^.^

Hello, friends. In relation to the above, here is the direct quote, and it is all I've been told should be said at this time:

"Gazillion is watching all the CBR (SHSO)related threads, and this one is no exception."

I'm sorry, I wish it could be more. After hearing the reasoning tho, I can fully understand why that wouldn't be such a good idea. So for now, the above will have to suffice. It may be pretty vague, but it's still great news & overwhelmingly positive reinforcement! In fact, it's one of the main reasons I started this thread, as I'd been hearing the rumors for sometime. I thought to myself... what better way, what better vehicle could we have then, to let the PTB know who(and what to some degree, e.g. zones) we wanna see! Well, now we KNOW for sure, they ARE listening AND they actually care what we think & have to say! It doesn't get any better than that! Just that we have direct access, more or less, in & of itself is friggin' AMAZING! We're a real lucky bunch, I think.

Still, I'm sure you would like to know more. So what I can tell you is this, and I've been saying it all along:

Whoever & whatever you would like to see most, keep askin' for it, keep promoting it, & keep pushing for it! Not just here on this thread or even just on CBR, everywhere & anywhere! As we speak, Brain Yak is starting to put something together for the the CBR team, and all SHSO fans really, over on FB. That's an excellent place for your voice to be heard & reach many! Utilize everything at your disposal too, text, art, what have you! Make people sit up & take notice, blow them away with your presentation! Make them pay attention! Remember, your ultimate goal is to convince others, to get them to join your rally call for your favorites. It's your job to SELL these characters, very few are gonna do it for ya. Done right, your passion for that lesser-known hero could become contagious & infect a whole lot more like-minded fans! And when we all come together like that, it can only work out in our favor.

Starleafgirl, I'm sorry, I also wanted to address in detail your questions & concerns over the new number of heroes listed "minimum requirement". But at this immediate time, my computer continues to get attacked by increasingly threatening & hostile malware programs originating here from the CBR boards. It will be 10, but I've come up with a compromise that will allow some of you guys to do what it is I think you were aimin' to do. And that would be to give your top faves an advantage, which I totally understand. I'll being doing something in a similar vein with the new iteration restriction, that will also make everybody happy & keep things kosher, I think. I apologize for the inconvenience, but please be patient just a lil longer & I swear I'll get everything straightened out... once & for all!!! Hopefully, sometime later today, I'll be able to give you all the "minimum requirement" info in a new post. Sorry it's taking so long(I haven't posted anything on it other than this), but yesterday I got completely distracted PM'ing back & forth, as I couldn't waste the awesome opportunity I had.

Ah, malware sucks. :x Good luck with that. I haven't noticed a problem myself -- maybe you should try Spybot and SpywareBlaster, if you haven't already? I've got a couple of anti-virus programs (I know, I know, I'm only supposed to have one...), but I really think it's the passive protections in Spybot and SpywareBlaster that make the difference for me. Either that, or I've been lucky so far.

Thanks for the response. :) I'll wait to hear from you before contacting others... I honestly didn't think anyone would follow me to this thread, but they have, and now I'd like to make sure their votes get counted. Or at least tell them what they need to do if they want to be counted. XD

Hello there again, Starleafgirl, and everyone else, too! I'm finally getting around to the details on all this, a lot later than I expected to, as usual. I wish I could just blame it on all this update & overhaul business(not to mention those crazy malware attacks, which Norton saved me from every, single time; thank you, Norton, I'll be renewing soon!) transpiring here on the CBR Forums over the last 24 hrs. or so. But truth be told, sometimes I feel like one of the world's best procrastinators. Ya know, the whole "why do today what I can put off til tomorrow" thing... I must be like an expert by now! Seriously, I could probably get like a medal for it or something, lol. Anyhoo, enough of my wandering mind & its random, meandering musings... on to the topic at hand!

As mentioned above, the new "minimum requirement" total is 10. In order for any given entry to now be considered valid & therefore qualify, participants will need to make sure their lists meet the new standard minimum number of heroes required. There are only 3 posts that obviously fall short, based on just this retroactive stipulation alone, and they are:

As I also implied above, I think I know why & what their intent was, which I find admirable if true. I believe they wanted to make it clear, in no uncertain terms, that those listed were the only ones that mattered to them personally. I'm guessin' they might of concluded as well, that only putting just their absolute most favorite MIA hero(es) down, insures that all other candidates will be getting no additional points from them. Of couse, the idea being this would increase the chances of Songbird, Diamondback, & Hollow when it comes time for the results, while lessening everybody else's in the process. I get that, I don't agree with it, but I get it. With that in mind, I feel like I've developed the perfect compromise. It should allow voters to set apart & elevate their "pet" first-choice characters from those they don't feel as strongly about, if they so choose. This way, we'll all still know who's the most special to them, which is the message I believe they're ultimately trying to convey. Here's how it'll work:

Remember, you now HAVE to list at least 10 MIA heroes, BUT... you still have 20 spots available to you(w/varying points designated to each), that you may allocate as you see fit. In other words, you can take the balance of characters needed to meet the necessary new requirement, and distribute them wherever you want. There'll be no mandate dictating you must put them in natural numerical order, so you can have a #1 pick, then place & position the other 9 from the bottom up if you wish. For instance, we'll take RLAAMJR.'s entry & do a mock revision of it as an example:

Quote Originally Posted by RLAAMJR. View Post

    (skips the #2-11 spots)...
    (lists remaining 9 needed as)#'s 12 ??? thru 20 ???
This way Hollow still gets her 20 points, while her nearest competitor only gets 9, slightly less than half what Penny walks away with. And feel free to come up with any combination of 10 out of the 20 positions that gives you the desired effect you're seeking. There's no rules where that's concerned, you can scatter them however you want, as long as you at least have 10. There's something we need to consider & I would like some feedback on, before we proceed with voting or anybody starts editing & making changes. So please read the following first & respond with your opinions ASAP:

    Iterations:
I've come up with what I believe is a much simpler & BETTER alternative to my original idea of a list total % to determine the amount of iterations allowed per individual entry. That original concept would've been applied something like this:

    10-15 list total = 20%, with 10-12 allowed just 2 iterations & 13-15 allowed 3
    16-20 list total = 25%, with 16-18 allowed 4 iterations and 19 & 20 getting the max of 5

Another caveat I would've been including, to abide by when listing your reduced number of allowable iterations, was intended to make this new task easier. I would've advised everyone not to list multiple iterations of the same character separately, just keep them all in the same spot, 'cause that's where they're gonna end up in the results anyway. So instead of me placing 90's (Jim Lee)Jean Grey @ #2, White Phoenix @ #3, & Modern (Grant Morrison)Jean @ #4 respectively, I would need to just keep them all @ #2. The points would be allocated to any/all Jean Grey iterations or just simply the... Jean Greys. This new rule is not up for debate, I've already made my mind up! As such, it will definitely be part of my new & improved idea too, if that's where the consensus leads us. And that new & improved idea is:

A separate, smaller sub-poll, running simultaneously & in conjunction with the main "NEW POLL", for... ITERATIONS ONLY!!! Max allowed 10, minimum required 5, w/multiple suggestions for the same hero combined & grouped together at only 1 spot on your list. The point system would be the same & mirror that of the main MIA hero poll
(just with 10 instead of 20 as the base rule). What do you think?

Of couse, if we go with the second idea, all iterations would have to be removed from lists for the main "NEW POLL". Also, participation in the iteration sub-poll would be optional, I'd leave that decision up to each of you individually. If we do go the latter route, you can be certain that I'll be contributing my "Most Wanted" list... for sure!

I'm a world-class procrastinator, too, lol. Late last year, I finished up/erased/dealt with some stuff that had been hanging around since 2007... ;P Needless to say, some of it was now irrelevant. XD

2007, huh?... Ouch! Well I feel better now, I'll only be workin' on stuff as far back as late 2009/early 2010, for the most part. Still, that's 2 years, and notice I said "will be" not am... as in currently or right now, lol.

Yes, both number sequences you present are totally legit. IMHO tho, there's more decisions to be made & even more strategy involved when dealing with a list of less than the full 20 heroes, if you're not placing them in natural order. Fortunately for me, I'm set & good with what I got. Anyway, finally parring them down to just 20 was ordeal enough, and it's not something I care to revisit anytime soon.

However, I sure like the idea of making a new, separate list of my (up to)10 "Most Desired" iterations! AND... an accompanying collage, of course! That's the idea I'm REALLY leanin' towards, it would just be SO much easier. And unless I hear a good, strong counter-argument to convince me otherwise in the next day or so... that's the way it's prolly gonna BE! Sorry you're not really feelin' the whole... iteration situation, lol. But it's OK to remain neutral, and honestly, it's prolly the best place to be anyway. ThanX Star, and don't worry, we'll get this iteration stuff sorted out & resolved before too long. Things will get back to movin' again in no time, just like they were.
