I HATE HATE HATE that paper with a passion.

Its cheap and ages quicker than raw meat.

My enthusiasm for this release is now non-existant.

Thanks DC for nothing. On the bright side I won't waste my money.
I think you might be jumping to conclusions just a bit here, as while that reviewer says it showcase style the images he presents seem to contradict that assessment.

Looking foward to reading the new edition. Hope it is more like the novelization and covers the stories that make the storyline complete.

Admitedly I may have been a little bit harsh.

But make no mistake I just hate that crappy newsreal type paper and everything about it. It takes no time before it starts to fade and my hands feel dirty after even touching it. It just reeks of cheapness.

I don't see how these images contradict what he says. The image below clearly show that its being printed on the crap paper. I don't care if its the same type of paper used in the DC Classics library collection (Death in the Family) its still crap.

Please let us know if the original covers are included as well.

From the pic above, it looks like DC repeated the mistake of puting the 3 part Scarecrow SOTB tie-in between Knightfall parts 16 and 17 again. That page shown in the pic is from Tec 665, part 16, and the darker pages that follow are the SOTB story.

I never liked that about the original Who Rules the Night trade. It makes no sense to put the SOTB issues between parts 16 and 17 because that is right in the middle of the Tony Bressi story. Puting the SOTB story between parts 15 and 16 would make more sense story wise.
Top 5 favorite current books (in no particular order): Batman Inc., Batman, Batman and Robin, Daredevil, Superior Spider-Man

I can confirm 100% that the DC did indeed decide to use that godawful POS paper that I hate so damn much.

I am so raging mad right now. DC absolutely ruined the release that I was 100% looking most forward to. Absolutely ruined it. That paper is more worthless than toilet paper with crap on it.

For those of you on the fence about dumping your previous editions, my advice is to just save your money and keep the current TPBs. It has NOTHING extra aside from Vengeance of Bane, which you can get for MUCH cheaper in the Batman vs. Bane TPB with the better quality paper.

For those of you that love this type of paper, congratulations you got your wish. I have no idea why you would prefer a paper type that will fade in short while and is easily, but I guess "it feels like it used to" is what matters.

I am at least grateful that I didn't get rid of Broken Bat and Who Rules the Night.

Congratulations DC, you just lost a sale and thank you so much for doing the ONLY thing that could have ruined this for me.

But hey, those that love this paper are happy.....

I am quite happy with the release.

I'm not some big paper nitpicker. I have plenty of old trades that have held up just fine.

Vol 2 and Vol 3 will be more interesting though, with seeing how they order the stories and such.
DC discarded their history, and now has none. DC will always be in the shadows of their past work.

It does indeed have the lower quality TPB paper DC likes to use (not newsprint). I have never had a problem with this paper although I would prefer a higher quality paper I have old TPBs with this same paper and they still look like new.

Someone asked about the covers and it looks like they are at the beginning of each issue (I only skimmed).

    Here are some pictures.

Also, those Shadow of the Bat issues are between 16 and 17.I agree it is a strange placement, skimming through they could have put them before 16 or after 17 and it would have been better. After actually reading I may change my mind.

Has there been any announcement on what's going to be in the next two volumes? Any chance of Vengeance Of Bane 2 being in there, you think?

Quite happy with volume 1 myself, even if it does just collect two books I already own. No problems with the paper.

I don't understand how you guys can be happy with that crap paper. I really don't.

The colors fade, it smells hideous and leaves your hands with a nasty smell. Second-hand toilet paper is less crappy.

Like I said just hold on to Broken Bat and Who Rules the Night. This "crapollection" offers nothing over that aside from Vengeance of Bane which is already in Batman vs. Bane in much better paper.

I did save money though, so I guess I don't really have to complain.

Knightfall Vol. 2: Knightsquest will be exactly as the title implies: The Knightsquest saga, although it will only include The Crusade which follows Azrael as Batman.

Vol. 3 will include The Search, KnightsEnd and Prodigal.

IDK, maybe I'm just used to it, it is similar to the paper that was used before glossy became mainstream. I've never noticed any fading om my other trades with this paper.

That said, yes, I would have preferred a higher quality paper (matte finish over glossy though for this era).
