If I were to collect the three part trade paperback series, would I get the full story? 90s graphic novels were sometimes overly narrow in their focus.

No. It'd be more like getting Acts 1,2, and 5 of a five act play.

The Crusade was great. It was only The Search I had a problem with.

I had the same problem. They did the big reveal - and I still had to wait to two weeks to find out what was revealed.

Yeah...the new costume only became clearly distinguishable after I saw how Graham Nolan drew it.

See, I sort of liked that. Batman should be sort of indistinct most of the time, I think. I truly enjoyed Kelly's take.

Kelley's take isn't Batman as he is, but as others see him. I like it, but his style was often better suited to separate storylines than the crossovers. That's why his work could be both memorbable and jarring, depending on the context.

That's an interesting thought -- though, personally, I have never found Kelley's art jarring.

Speaking of which, this looks like it could be really good.

Yes - and that's fine - but it really made him a bad choice for the issue where they reveal the new costume.

I don't know about that. I still remember the debut of that costume, 20 years later.

Now that this is actually released, anyone got an opinion either way on this? Say, forr example, I already have the old Knightfall Vol 1, would this be worthwhile or not?

Considering that it contains Vengeance of Bane, the book you have, and its sequel, the answer should be a resounding YES.

For crap's sake, if the product description doesn't inform you as to whether or not it's worth it, no one here would be able to.

Hell, I've already sold my old volume 1 to fund this - I was just wondering if anyone was still complaining about what was in it after the initial confusion with the solicit.

    4. KNIGHTFALL proper, of course.
    5. Both parts of KNIGHTSQUEST (THE CRUSADE/THE QUEST)
    6. KNIGHTSEND
    7. PRODIGAL

If we were to get *really* greedy, we'd throw in BATMAN: VENOM and VENGEANCE OF BANE II in there too...maybe even Batman and Bane's rematch fight from LEGACY.

Yeah, this volume is missing Batman: Sword of Azrael 1-4, Batman 488-490 (integral to introducing Azrael to Batman's world) and 'Tec 657 and 658 (Bane Appearances). I understand that there's a lot of issues in this already and this would really overstuff this trade, but some of those issues are kinda hard to track down! Specifically Batman 488 and 489 seem to be tough to get at a resonable price (although I did get lucky and found a copy of 488 for a buck on eBay, so it can be done).

Still, I'm looking forward to getting this when Amazon finally gets them in stock and ships 'em out. It should make a hansome collection once we have all 3 books on the shelf.
