Around the corner from Panic's office is Steve Wacker's "New York Office" for the Marvel U. The headliner here is "Amazing Spider-Man," which we already know is kicking off the year with Dan Slott's "Ends of the Earth" story. This is another major storyline, launching quickly after "Spider-Island." Does the twice-monthly nature of "Amazing" and the opportunity for more one-off stories here and there make it easier to do those kinds of epic arcs? Or will there be some changes coming even for that title as "AvX" rolls in later this year?
Alonso: With "Amazing Spider-Man," we've caught lightning in a bottle: A double-shipping title with a lot of lots of buzz and tons of momentum that [Editor] Steve [Wacker] and [writer] Dan [Slott] have capitalized on in spades. "Amazing Spider-Man" is the perfect combination of superhero action and soap opera it should be -- and readers recognize this. Dan's got a firm handle on the story and Steve has such a firm handle on the aesthetic he wants for the book. I mean...dang.
lol Alonso just ignored the questions and went on talking about how great ASM is
OK WAIT HOLD ON let me get this freaking straight?
THERE CLONING X-23 AND GIVING THEM SYMBIOTES?
DEVINE OVER KILL AT ITS FINEST
Gotta say that Alonso isn't wrong about Amazing Spiderman. It captures everythign I always liked about the book. My only dislike is Ramos. I get he has his fans but like Bahcallo I find his art too jarring and it takes me out of the story trying to work out whats going on sometimes.
Slott and Wacker are doing a bang up job on the book. Sadly I only get it in trade because there are a lot of books I want to get and simply can't legitimise $7.98 a month for 40 pages when that can get me nearly three different $2.99 books.
That being said for the more affluent avid Spiderfan I get it's better than 3 different books a month.
I would like the book to move away from these almost event arcs though and just tell more understated but relevant Spiderman stories for a while.
Also Id lvoe to see a story where the Avengers outsource Spidey to the GLA for a while. Lol.
I thought that as well lol I mean I agree with Alonso that it's great but he didn't answer the question about whether or not the AVX story would affect ASM or even about whether or not the twice monthly thing made it easier for the arcs question thing lol. Still I ain't complaining lol I just found it funny.
I'm only reading Ultimates right now...i knew an event was inevitableI have little interest in Ult Spider-man or Ult X-Men.
Currently recommending: Daredevil, Mudman ( it's back!), Hawkguy, and FF. Can't miss!
Esad is killing it on Ultimates
Child Of The Atom Smasher
With the exception of Hulk all of that art looks fantastic, imo.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Dat Ultimates art, hnnnng. I seriously can't wait for this. I hope nothing happens to the Xorns, it's too soon and I want to see more of them.
Scarlet spider looks great. Love the villain. Whoever that may be.
Oh so the Venom is a clone!
That explains that horrible mischaracterization of the dude eating things left and right. It actually matches with that on-going he had a while back.
That's a lot of sweet preview art. Those Tony Moore Venom pages look especially good and those Esad Ribic Ultimates pages - wow!!
I'm so glad that Whilce Portacio has taken up Silvestri's slack. Not so glad that Bendis has a big hand on the green guy.
New Avengers, Morbius The Living Vampire, Scarlet Spider, Iron Man, Fearless Defenders, Fantastic Four, Deadpool Killogy, Savage Wolverine, Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men & X-Force, Cable & X-Force, Gambit
