The new parasite design looks interesting, should be cool to see the evolution.
Shane Davis's art doesn't really work for me here, it looks different from the first volume, and not a good different.
Parasite looks interesting, I quite like the design and the bubble things on his arms and upper back, he looks to skinny, but from other images of this volume I've seen (on the artists blog I think ) he gets more muscled up later in the book, presumebly from absorbing more of Superman's power. I really wish the Parasite was purple though, grey really doesn't work for me.
I guess this time I'll wait for the reviews to see if it's worth picking up.
First one was disappointing, but I still generally like JMS so I hope this one is a better representation of what he is capable of (Rising Stars, Midnight Nation, Surfer: Requiem, Bullet Points, Brave and the Bold, etc).
Between Earth One vol 1 and his Superman and Wonder Woman runs, I have to consider that maybe he's just on the decline in terms of quality. Happens to the best of them.

Shane's art is looking as gorgeous as always. The story for the first was OK, nothing great and certainly not terrible. i hope JMS ups the ante big time on this one though.
I can't tell you how much I like this costume design more than that bulky armor crap with the military collar in the new 52... This was/is a nice update that incorporates nods to previous designs along with some updates too. Davis could have even lost the undies and it would have worked better than the new Superman. Also, Davis is doing a great job of drawing a younger Supes than most. Many depictions in the N52 are missing the boat with that. Well done Shane!

I like that Parasite. Actually, it somewhat mirrors an idea I had that I should post in that reinvent villains topic...
Shane Davis' art is pretty good looking in this too. Dude has come pretty far from his Superman/Batman days.
It's an interesting take on Parasite, I'll give him that much. But I've always vastly preferred Alex Ross' design to any other iterations.
I hope Shane Davis' work is better in this one. His art is looks very nice at first glance, but after a moment, you notice things such as how boring the compositions are.
Your name is Kal-El. You are the only survivor of the planet Krypton. Even though you've been raised as a human being, you are not one of them

Can't wait for this.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.
Red TrunksI'm glad we at least have one Superman around that has kind of a classic look to his suit. Still love the new 52 suit though but seeing the classic always makes me happy.
Good they got rid of that whole Twilight thing from the last book![]()
I like what I have seen thus far.The Earth 1 books are a great idea.Yeah,we just got a new DCU.But this project is such a great idea.![]()
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can.And for you,it's about setting an example everyone looks up to you,if you tell them to fight, they'll fight, but they need to be inspired, and let's face it,"Superman" ..the last time you really inspired anyone you were dead"-Batman IC #1

The 1st book had flaws such as Superman representing himself as a guy who only wants to help the world againts things the military can't solve, but refuses to help with things like curing cancer, that just feels wrong in so many levels. Hope JMS realized what he made Superman look like in the newspaper article at the end.
