The most interesting thing about the character, imo, is his methodology and this series focus on that while doing the character building on the peripheral characters really works.
Based on the first 7 issues I totally agree. Doesn't spoonfeed the reader with exposition heavy dialogue or narrative. Minimalism is the way to go with Frank. Mostly smart writing from Rucka great storytelling from Chechetto, except for a few points in the run where what is going on isn't completely clear.

Greg mentioned that the current storyline should end around issue 16 in one of his interviews. See below. Third paragraph from the bottom.

Check out his comments about Born in this interview.

If that was his take on events as he was writing it, then I stand by my initial criticism that the ending was a bit of bad writing that spoiled any attempt to cast doubt in the readers mind about the origin of the "voice".

I am both liking this run and not liking it at the same time......

Can someone help explain these feelings?

The story is 160 pages in, and ...i don't know, it seems like its barely moved. I know things are happening, but.....gah its getting frustrating.

My diagnoses is that you have fallen into deep de(com)pression. Unfortunately there is no known medication to treat this beyond dropping the book and waiting for it to be collected in an OHC. Otherwise you will just have to get ready for quite a bit of decompression. Albeit well told and, hopefully, good decompression.

Greg tends to to be more of a slow burn, long form writer who builds things up. He is not fast paced. He is taking his time and, basically, moving the chess pieces around the board. Getting you familiar with the characters involved while slowly moving the story forward. I actually quite like his writing but it is a contrast from someone like Rick Remender, who is a longform story writer and fast paced at the same time.

Default Marvel.com Q&A with Mark Waid > Omega Effect w/preview art

Some details from Mark Waid with preview art HERE.

A lot of it is a repeat of what Mark, Greg and Stephen mentioned at CBR last month, but the preview art is insane.

Greg will be interviewed next week.

I agree. If there was a better way to show that, the acceptance of his violent nature I think I would have been more accepting of Born.

It's too bad I'm not a fan of Garth or Goran because I love Cold War espionage stuff. After being burned by Punisher MAX and Battlefields: Night Witches mini series, I think Garth and I are like oil and water: we just don't mix.

I hope the fans enjoy his Fury MAX series.

Pretty much this. Take a look at his Queen & Country collections to get an idea for what the pacing of this book is going to feel like, if it's really killing you to read monthly then the only thing to do is trade wait.

I'm loving it, personally... Punisher week is always cause for excitement for me.

Seems Marvel doesn't like to do that anymore. Its skinny PHCs or nothing.

this is a great way to get rid of useless characters from marvel universe and should be employed on a regular basis

    In July through Amazon

So I guess Marvel wait until an entire run is released in the PHCs before doing this? For the majority of books I don't see them doing this, but perhaps for certain runs/characters/creators?

And LOL at the comment about dispatching the Vulture. Let's hope he stays dead (no more Marvel zombies... sure doesn't want a zombie Vulture squawking around).

The Omnibus is Marvel's top of the line collection. Very few runs get collected in it.

How it used to be is they'd release two trades, then an OHC, then two more trades, then an OHC. Now they release a PHC, then another, then a trade, then a PHC, then a trade, and so on with no OHCs.

I just read issue 9 to prep for The Omega Effect. It's my first issue of Punisher in years, so I was a little lost, but it was cool. I like the man of few words approach here. I'm intrigued by Frank pairing up with another former Marine out for vengeance. Look forward to the AvSM/DD/Punisher crossover!
