Dude, when you title a thread "The Curse of Shazam! - Rumours", shouldn't you be the one sharing the rumours?!?

If you want to know if anybody else has heard anything, a title like "The Curse of Shazam! - Anyone Heard Any Rumours Yet?" may be a little more . . . appropriate and truthful.

Looks like this one is going to be a total reboot/overhaul. I'm cool with it. Frankly, Captain Marvel/SHAZAM has never actually been good in the DCU, and his earlier stuff is only good with those rose tinted nostalgia glasses (good for its time)

Captain Marvel/SHAZAM is still waiting for that definitive, classic take that is going to leave a lasting impression on people.

Johns is not going to be the person to deliver that. I don't think he has that in him anymore. But he and Frank will bring some peepers to the character, and perhaps provide a solid launching pad for a hungry, up and coming writer like Fialkov or Gillen or Cornell or whoever to do something really vital.

I'm all for a reboot for Captain Marvel,and having Frank do the art chores, its a slam dunk for me.I would like to see the gods involved who provide the power also.Alot of history and mythology there.I'm hoping they don't change the costume too much either.

Why make the power a curse of any kinda? Why mess up great characters? I have said this before I have no confidence in Johns due to the name of the story and problems I have had with him writing him in the past.

There's fan backlash over any decision DC makes, no matter how minor. And let's be honest here, Captain Marvel hasn't done well in years and could use a few changes to revitalize him.

Honestly, I wish they'd just stick Captain Marvel in his own Earth, (Earth-5). In the DCU, he'll always be third fiddle.

That might have do with some bad mishandling of the marvel family that started with the death of wizard to mary being turned evil to Johns stupidly depowering them. As I said stupid writing and mishandling. Needs to revitalize is go back to the core of character and not crap last few years. Curse Of Shazam doesn't like that and frank saying backlash makes me think same stupid writing. Just continues to me that DC puts in charge of Shazam characters who don't have a handle on them.

I don't disagree, but there's a huge difference in being skeptical and making really shaky conclusions.

The thing is, the so-called mishandling didn't just start where you think it did. DC has never really been successful in making Captain Marvel work that well in the DCU. The best thing to come out of it is that Black Adam made a compelling villain/antihero in Johns's JSA.
