He at this point should be a heel, imo, that tshirt is a test for it. Faces don't get booed as much as John Cena without turning.

And your lack of interest is year by year lowering ratings, lowering ppv buys, lowering merch sales. They need to do something new with him, because keeping him the same isn't helping.
Yeah, they can buy Cena sucks gear if he's a heel... but the people cheering for Cena will likely STOP buying Cena stuff. And heels typically sell less merchandise than faces. Turning Cena heel will very likely mean merchandise sales will take a hit.

The thing with turning Cena heel is that he's a draw to kids, which is the future of the company especially in a PG enviroment. If you're going to turn him heel, you better have a dam good story to do it with (we're talking Hogan nWo level), and you'd better have a top face ready to carry the company in Cena's place. If not, then it's simply not worth it.

I'm going to offer a comment forth here....might get flamed for it, might not

maybe we're at the plateau.....maybe it's time for professional wrestling to fade away, like bare knuckle boxing or chariot racing

indeed....flipping Cena will cost the WWE a lot of money....because lets be real here....parents are more likely to buy their kids Cena shirts to shut them up then the smellies up in the cheap seats are to buy shirts for a heel Cena

cuz they're still rocking that nWo shirt they bought back in 96

This is an always has been a bullshit arguement, again, merch sales are down, second, kids are fucking stupid.
Cena is always going to be the only guy who kids cheer for if Cena is the only guy they push who kids will cheer for.
You can't have a top face in place if you refuse to create a top face.
The reason Cena is on top and won't switch is because they have utterly failed at creating new stars, period.

If it improves business and they sell more ppvs they make more money, if they make more stars people care about they make more money.

Also, Cena has been hurt before and was off tv entirely, the business didn't collapse.

They know that because, like i said, he has been gone before, but once he comes back they forget it.

I guess technically they made Punk, the crowds like him, he sells merch. But he's not on a bigger level than Orton, and Orton has never caught up too Cena either.

that can be said of any major sport. doesn't mean baseball or football or boxing should fade out.

right....maybe we are going into a time where it needs to "hibernate" or go away for a while, then come back and people will want to watch in larger numbers

me personally....as you can tell by my sig, that part of my brain that used to really like wrestling and tune in every week, is now dedicated to roller derby - a grass roots homegrown sport and Id sooner spend my money there than give it to Vince or Dixie Carter

so? there's always been other entertainment options besides wrestling since the turn of the century. doesn't mean the entire industry should just up and fold.

WWE pushes other people... they're just not as kid friendly as Cena is.

Undertaker or Orton just don't work in that capacity, even though I'm sure there are some kids that are fans of theirs.

Rey works... but I'm not sure how much gas he's got left in the tank.

There are TONS of guys who can be anti-heroes. That's a dime a dozen. Orton, Taker, Triple H, CM Punk. But there aren't really any John Cena's. He fills a unique and very important niche for the company. That's not something you want to throw away needlessly.
