My initial reaction was to reject this out of hand, but the more I think about it, the more I like it.
His memory's gone! Or...is it? It's not hard to fake amnesia! The Goblin is capable of anything!
It implies simply as a mutual relationship that could be expanded beyond his relationship with The Black Cat. We have already seen it happen with Ms. Marvel who knows both sides to Spider-Man/Peter Parker. And Carol and Peter are close friends because of it. I never said anything about a committed relationship like he had with Felicia Hardy or Mary Jane. I simply want to retain Spidey's relationship with the about women in the same matter as he has with Gloria Grant and Betty Brant. Unlike Felicia, Carol Danvers and Peter got to know each other on a date at a restaurant. He never did that with Felicia Hardy when they had a relationship; did they?
Carol's relationship with Peter fits in well in the Betty Brant category. Meaning it doesn't have to led to sex. I feel that that part of the relationship would kill the mood that Peter has with Carol or Jessica because it would become a long running soap opera, like General Hospital. And that type of relationship would restrict the development of the other relationships that he could have with the others. This was one of the reasons why Felicia Hardy couldn't re-spark her relationship with Peter because he was married to Mary Jane. As far as a potential relationship goes with any of the heroines, I would rather keep it simple as a close buddy relationship that is VERY close to the Betty Brant/Gloria Grant type relationship. This way, we get to know a different side to each heroine whenever they choose to go out on a date with Peter Parker in the background. And Peter should have at least one Anti-Hero/Villain, like Mystique in that line up.

It would be a little awkward since she was married to his step-nephew....

I'd rather just see them team up as Spidey and Shulkie instead of having these monthly platonic Peter/Jen dinner dates that you're envisioning. They can grab something from Shake Shack or a bar when they're done fighting Doc Ock and just bond that way. They have way more in common in their superhero identities anyway.
Man, and I thought it was weird when Brian Reed started pushing for Peter and Carol after Carol had already been MJ's friend. (Although that little factoid seems to have been completely forgotten.)
Hi Dan(Slott), please do all that you can to bring your version of Jennifer Walters into Peter Parker's respective circle of supporting cast members as a tough as nails lawyer once again. This might be the best way to use the She-Hulk once again by incorporating her into Amazing Spider-Man in the same manner as Betty Brant!!!

I'm surprised nobody has posted the Heroes Return panel of Spidey saying he and She-Hulk were an item.
Behold, I shall be a blight upon the land, and everything I touch shall wither and die!
