I've browsed the various threads for this week's AvX / WATXM / Avengers books, but my gods I'm not even thinking of posting. I am genuinely surprised by the amount of people seemingly wilfully misreading the books, taking them way out of context, ignoring what's actually on the page (especially dialogue) or just reading in massively broad strokes that simply aren't there.

The only thing I can equate it to is coming out of seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark and the people around you are going on about "how that Jones bloke was an evil tomb-robber who pissed on the graves of the dead (that one scene where he openly masturbated into the Ark!) and murdered all those nice young men in uniform".

It makes no sense. I'd call troll, but that would mean that a scary proportion of the people on the CBR boards are trolls.

Well, your last statement is probably true, to some extent. Yet, I suspect that significant portions of them do actually believe all the irrational things they are saying.

teachers are whiney.

I have no patience people who get paid twice as much as I do, to do half the work getting bitchy with me when I'm trying to do three people's jobs, none of which I've been trained for.

Also, I would like to be able to have 2 hours a week to do the job I was hired for so when I have my evaluation, and get asked what I've done to meet my goals, i can say something other than 'made everyone else look good'

My mother is a teacher and she endures the same sort of thing. Attempt to weather it, and hope things balance out. Only advice I can give, and, yes, I know it is not worth its salt.

Also, I lost my dog over the weekend, and this may definite have something to do with me wanting to hit every person that walks in my office to bitch at me in the face with a hammer, then toss them into a bag of cats.

They are either trolls or twelve. I almost always think it's someone with nothing better to do but stir it up. 90% of the time they don't actually believe what they are posting, just doing it to bide their time. Which has to be the least productive thing ever.

jlmoor and I fought the battle a while back and believe it or not it is better than it was on a board that shall go unnamed. There was (and still is to some extent) a clique that would gang up on posters (some of them obviously young or maybe with English as a second language) and get away with insulting, etc. There used to be a thread of things that they declared as "canon" which were very dubious proclamations. One of them got poster of the month for trolling PAD and not even in a clever way IMO. Some of them evaded the ban hammer mysteriously for quite a long time until fairly recently. *mini rant over*

jlmoor and I fought the battle a while back and believe it or not it is better than it was on a board that shall go unnamed. There was (and still is to some extent) a clique that would gang up on posters (some of them obviously young or maybe with English as a second language) and get away with insulting, etc. There used to be a thread of things that they declared as "canon" which were very dubious proclamations. What's really impressive is when they start arguing with the person that wrote the book that they misunderstood the book.

You are faster learner than I was! It really isn't worth it. I felt sorry for the one young female poster they ganged up on one time because she liked a certain character. She's not been back since AFAIK. I think that was the only reason I would dip into it sometimes ... and it was to report some really flagrant stuff. And I don't give a crap who knows that I did it.

Oh, I know the cover you mean... the "concentration camp". It did stir up a hornet's nest a couple of months ago when the solicits came out. I think that thread went on for dozens of pages too.
