Ross is hilarious. His tv shows have been consistently brilliant over here for years. His autobiography that came out a couple years ago is worth reading too. The chapters where he talks about his love for comics is great. He is SUCH a geek. His success has meant that he can buy all kinds of cool stuff and it's fun reading his enthusiasm and excitement about it.

    I love him.

    Plus, Hitch draws nice. :)

Hardly a new idea yet, its not limited to a single execution.
Neither is monster-as-a-hero or character hiding behind a mask or any number of vague descriptions. If you boil everything down enough nothing sounds original--and there are those who claim nothing is original because of that--but that's ridiculous.

"Story about a human being? That's been done to death!"

It all comes down to execution and I can assure you--"America's Got Powers" will not read like "Automatic Kafka."

And if you haven't read it--Automatic Kafka is awesome. Image didn't publish that. I don't get anything from that book either.

....I'm trying to finish writing this sucker. But it will not be the same as other books that have a similar premise - not that I knew about them before. But c'mon guys, lets get at least one out and in the stores before you pass judgement.

Judging from the interview it sounds like they want to use the premise to get into a larger story. Hopefully like Saga is using it's basic Romeo and Juliet in space concept to explore a new universe.

Like how Top Ten, Powers and Savage Dragon both featured superheroes as cops and developed into very distinct books.

Either way I think Ross has an interesting voice and I love Hitch's art so I'm open to seeing what they come up with.

Though I admit I thought of Wild Guard when I heard the premise.

though being fair he did do the Steve Ditko documentary which was semi-intelligent at least.

I'm enjoying it so far.. though the only similarities I'm seeing are with Rising Stars.. and i don't mind that at all.

I don't think it will last as an ongoing title but I'm still willing to plunk down change to see it thru to the end.. and along the way maybe the story becomes more open-ended.. who knows?

[SNARK ON] annnnd i don't have to worry about Shmolverine showing up and taking over.. [SNARK.. DISARMED]
