Archie Manning doesn't know if Peyton Manning will be back next season or not. He also doesn't know if rumors of the Colts moving back Manning's $28+ million dollar bonus due March will happen or not.

Local AZ sportstalk this afternoon was really trying to stir the pot regarding Peyton Manning. Specifically, Charlie Casserly's claim while on CBS' The NFL Today that Jim Irsay wasn't going to pick up the $28 million on Peyton, and was going to draft Andrew Luck. Which would allow Peyton to sign a shorter deal wherever he wanted.

And Casserly went on to say he thought Arizona was the most likely landing place. That Arizona would sign Manning, and instead, would not pick up their own option on Kevin Kolb.

The whole theoretical idea of this was bandied about for four hours of radio time on 620 KTAR, over two separate programs. At one point, a show had Kurt Warner from the NFL Network calling in, and asked him what he thought about it (the gist was, "if you can get Peyton Manning, yes, you get him.")


I remember the year Arizona almost got Joe Montana, but the Chiefs pulled the rug out from under him, and had Joe Cool lead them to the playoffs. So I'm really skeptical. Other than playing somewhere, that also is a dome, and having a great WR to throw to in Larry Fitzgerald, I don't think Peyton wants to have the Cardinals' lack of tackles in front of him.


If you ask me, he'd rather follow Alex Smith after this season in San Francisco, if he will be allowed to walk. He goes to a place that has weapons like Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and Michael Crabtree to throw to, a much better O-Line, and one of the best defenses in football. That would, in my mind, make the 49ers an instant Super Bowl pick for many. Sure, he'd have to play outdoors, but it doesn't get that cold in the bay area.


Again, all hypotheticals.

I can't remember who, think it was Bill Simmons, mentioned the possibility of Peyton going to the Jets. As a longtime fan of the Patriots, that both scares and interests me. He's been the biggest bogeyman of the last decade for our team, and there's something comforting of the thought of the two quarterbacks of the last decade duking it out in the same division to wrap up their careers (realistically they both only have a few good years left). Then again there are rumors about him going to just about every team that needs a QB and quite a few who don't. Can't wait to see what happens.

To mention Joe Montana , in his book Montana claimed the Cardinals had the much better package money wise for him. They were gonna pay him more. Also they had Gary Clark who was on the team catch a few passes from him and flashed his name on the scoreboard.

But once Joe visited KC and met Marty Shottenheimer , it was there Joe was interested. The Chiefs were a playoff team under Marty. He was a good head coach. Also the fact the Chiefs were gonna bring in a coach Joe knew to make the switch to the west coast offense . It was Paul Hackett.

Montana also really shouldn't have had power. But the owner then Eddie DeBartlo Jr was close to Joe. The Cardinals had the better trade package and was gonna send more to the 49ers than the Chiefs were. But he let Joe pick the team he wanted to go to.

Then he nearly changed his mind and was gonna stop the trade. DeBartlo Jr asked Montana if he wanted to stay and become the starter again. That he could be the starter and Young his backup. Joe however realized that wasn't right and decided that he should leave.

The entire trade wouldn't have happened had Montana got his wish earlier when he wanted to compete with Young for the starting job. As he detailed had he been able to and lost , he would have been Steve's backup . He just wanted to compete for the job . Seifert said no to that and the trade began.

I just heard something on the radio about Adam Schefter's Twitter account saying that there's word out of Oakland that the Raiders have fired coach Hue Jackson, after he led them to an 8-8 season.

And here I thought the chaos with that franchise died with Al Davis.

Lol.. Well they went 8-8 the year before.. No progress. No job...Also the New GM wants to hire his coach and his qb.

You have to understand here though...McKenzie likely walked into the Raiders and saw the terrible trade he was saddled with. One that will impact his drafts and free agency moves the next 2-3 seasons. He likely knew he wasn't gonna keep Hue Jackson the moment he signed.

Jackson really doomed himself with his "win at all costs" gamble with the trade he made for Palmer. Once the trade didn't pay off , the team was in a hell of a spot.

He deserved to go for what spot he put the team in.

did he get into a bar fight or somthing.. They need a brand new coach , with a differnt attuide than the previous coaches. Tom cable, tough guy and hits people, hue jackson tough guy. They need more of zen master of a coach to discipline their all time flags record...
