I'm caught up with their regular series. Grim Ghost is wrapped up. Hard to feel involved by a past highwayman ghost who turns out to have gone bad. The real "hero" was Michael all along.
Phoenix has dramatic tension between characters (as does Grim Ghost) but it's Wulf that I like best, especially the predicament that the villain is in.

    Original Tiger-Man was interesting.

Scorpion done by Chaykin was great. The third issue was cr*p. So if they try to do it more 1930s pulp style, and do it well, may be a winner.

Planet of Vampires could be an interesting concept, IF done well. I thought it was a bit silly with the huge changes on Earth in a very short time (including domed cities of vampires). And killing off almost all your cast in a couple of books is always a bad idea. I think by the time it ended only the main character was still alive.

Destructor, if done right, could also be good. I also enjoyed Targitt.

Honestly, I've given up on the Atlas titles after multiple attempts to get a hold of them about my order and because these books just weren't overly good to begin with (Wulf being decent). I can't see this company surviving, especially since their books have only hit the Diamond 300 in orders once and that was for their first issues, I just can't see how Atlas is going to make any money to continue this line. I also hate that they hardly Tweet despite having a Twitter account, they rarely ever update their homepage, and their customer service is downright horrible. A part of me is actually rooting against them, and that's rare for me being that I'm a massive fan of indy comic book companies.

Just saw the solicits for Arrden for August at Comics Continuum. They've got Phoenix and Wulf issues 6 listed, as well as Atlas Unified #4. Looking forward to this -- really want to see how the opening arcs for Phoenix and Wulf turn out.

It's really too bad they have had so many delays. It seems like Atlas could have had a nice little shared universe, but I doubt it will last long. They also never expanded into digital, which seems like a must for indies to reach a greater audience these days.

I just question if they can sustain the line with the delays, no digital offerings and books that are not generating any buzz. They have good characters and concepts, and a shared universe that many readers look for to contrast the big 2, but I think they have dropped the ball. Now Valiant is relaunching and will probably snag a lot of Atlas readers who have become disillusioned.

I don't feel that Jason Goodman will give up as easily as someone else might have. Considering it is a part of his family's past and all. He might feel like he will be letting his grandfather down if he lets it go (I don't want to put words or motives in his mouth and minds so this is just speculation). I have heard on the AA boards that he feels there is a bright future for the company too and that they plan for a GG trade sometime in the future.

I hope that is the case. And I would definitely buy the trades if they make it that far.

Jason won't have much of a chance when he goes to publish an issue and notices that he doesn't have enough money to do so. The idea of an Atlas revival was nice while it lasted but at this point those still reading will be lucky enough to get a new issue of their 4 titles nevermind new books featuring "classic" Atlas characters, I'd say it's only a matter of 6-8 months before the final nail in the coffin is put into place. The whole thing was a messy abortion to begin with, for the most part the stories have been so-so at best and the art has ranged from okay to absolutely horrid, it just seemed to tossed together and the company has done a terrible job and keeping fans in the loop.

    Good riddance.

I seriously hope this happens but I have my doubts. I'd really like to finish the first arcs of both Phoenix & Wulf.

If Atlas fails they have no one to blame but themselves. Honestly I hope they can get their act together. Jason is a great guy & his heart is the right place. I have to wonder if they would have done better going thru a company like Image. At this point I think the only thing that would save them is a big stunt like a crossover between Prime & Phoenix. If that happened then I know the end of the world would follow !!

Seriously I do think some type of crossover with another company would draw attention to Atlas. But then they have to put their books out ON TIME!!

They can't even get their own crossover out on time....

Also, I don't know if Image would have taken them, Atlas isn't quite the type of creator owned property they usually publish. And even if they did, it would still have been up to them to produce everything on time. All image does is help with publication and distribution, with the added benefit of a top spot in the Diamond catalogue.
