Definitely an impressive issue and a worthy addition into this amazing universe of characters, you almost forget that it's written and illustrated by almost unknown talent within the industry.
Yes, the underwater flashback scenes were espescially nicely done. I think my only gripe now is the heads don't always fit right on the bodies...but this was a big improvement overall. It's still not Dragonsbane, but solid and great story.

Captain Victory no.4 was a blast to read and probably was the best issue of the whole series so far, I loved the under water people and the character really deepened the title a lot. I can't wait to see where the series goes in no.5 and I am stoked for Silver star no.4 which I think is out next week unless I'm wrong.

Captain Victory no.4 has absolutaly made me fall in love with Orca, he's not one of my favorite characters in the Genesis universe! Wow I am totally enthralled by him and his past leading up to him becoming a ranger. Awesome!

I admit, I've never paid much attention to Orca until this issue and I was really digging his interaction with Qualla and the way he was kind of adopted into the Rangers. It was very well done. I would personally like to see Orca involved in some of the future storylines alongside Tarin and Tiger 20, these three have the tools to become major players in this Kirby universe and I wouldn't mind seeing a mini-series based on either of these fantastic characters. Either which way, Orca definitely grabbed my attention and I'll be looking forward to see what he does in the future as a part of the Galactic Rangers, hopefully he remains a mainstay part of the group.

Just thought I'd mention, Comixfan1980 mentioned Orca on the official Twitter feed and made mention about how much discussion the character was receiving here on the forums from the loyal Kirby: Genesis group we have going here. It's kind of cool to see that kind of recognition from a comic book company, I hardly doubt that Marvel/DC/Image would ever make mention of stuff they see people talking about here on the Comic Book Resources independent forums.

And Kurt Busiek is a regular here, which adds such a personal connection to the books. It is nice to see and only makes people want to support them.

I agree 100%! When I first saw Kurt post something here on CBR in one of the Genesis related threads I was pretty much in awe, it really made me step back and look at the bigger picture, "beyond the comic" if you catch my drift. It's good to know that some creators give a damn about thier fans.

I can't wait to see busiek post again in this thread maybe he can give us a heads up on any future kirby books hitting shelves and title names? Doubt he can tell us though, lol. Kurt cares though I believe he likes to reach out to his readers.

Good article today on CBR suggesting the Kirby Genesis books would make a great cartoon block. Couldn't agree more. Though a trippy sci fi Silver Star live action (green screen) movie would be awesome.

Read it and loved it! I now want cartoons based on Kirby genesis and its characters it would be so awesome! I doubt it would happen though and I would rather more comics based on these heroes than a cartoon.e

Yeah, I can't announce spin-offs and such -- that's Dynamite's area. But it's great to see the universe expanding through the other books, and there's plenty more they can use to build with.

I love the idea of the KG cartoon block, too.

"There's plenty more they could use to build with".....but will they? That's what I'm worried about. I love the 3 spin-off's and I love the core series but I'm worries that once the "Genesis" book ends that all we will have moving forward will be the 3 titles, and I think Dragonsbane is set to be a mini-series. I want to see mini's, ongoing titles, and much much more come out of Genesis and I have this sinking feeling like this line of books is going to turn out like Project: Superpowers in the end with nothing at all. I hope these fears don't come true...

Thanks for checking in Kurt! I hope dynamite does use the characters they have and make more series, they could have a big universe with tons of title in no time at all!

Well, they don't want to overdo it either. They released Silver Star, Captain Victory, and Dragonsbane all within 2 months of each other spinning out of Genesis, that's a pretty big step in expanding the universe and getting the product out there. I'm thinking that maybe after the summer they could release a couple of more books, maybe one in September and one in October, that way there would be 5 monthlies on store shelves centered around this universe. I would be okay with a total of 5-6 monthly books, or 4 monthly books with some revolving mini's to pick up on. But putting 2+ more books out in such a short time may not be the best possible rout to take in this situation, especially since Genesis isn't complete yet. I would be okay with Genesis sticking around past issue #8 with someone else writing/drawing it if it means that we get to see these characters month in and month out collectively, either which way I'm down for more product in time.

I could see--if Dragonsbane ends up as a mini--two more minis being added such as Glory Knights, Galaxy Green, The Primals or maybe The Phantom Continent. Then when those have run their course, and Victory and SS are around a year in, launch a 2nd event book (Kirby: Exodus?) which spins into at least one more ongoing, preferably two.
