Well, there goes half of our internet fun. Thanks a lot Marvel.![]()
Goodbye CBR if SOPA passes.
Be interesting to see if anyone boycotts. I've only been buying one title of theirs...and will continue to do so to support the artist involved. Other than that...no. These companies have to see that this will lead to no where good. We are people. Humans. Not just consumers.
Makes sense.
Their superiors, Disney, are in support of it.
Then again, they more than helped make piracy a problem in the first place. Hell, financed it. But that's a whole 'nother story.
I'm dropping all my Marvel titles.
As I mentioned in another thread, If I boycott Marvel over this I will also need to stop buying DC comics, stop watching sports and lots of tv in general and stop posting on CBR.
but SOPA means soup in Spanish, is this a prank or something?
Well, I guess after Black Panther #529, I can feel great about dropping Marvel. I'm not really a D.C guy other then Batman/Batfam.
But I can't support this.
Marvel is in support of shutting down the internet
Who would have thought
Currrently Reading- Suicide Squad,Justice League,Animal Man,Batwoman,Batman:The Dark Knight,Batman,Batman and Robin,Detective Comics, Wonder Woman and Jonah Hex
Are you dropping DC too? As noted, Time Warner's in support of SOPA as well.
I'm as disgusted by SOPA for the clusterfuck it is as anyone else, but this article's in pretty bad form for making the fact DC's essentially in the same position practically a footnote.
My outrage is tempered by the fact it's an obvious turn of events. SOPA basically amounts to the tech world versus holders of intellectual property, anyone who didn't expect Marvel, Disney, DC and Time Warner to fall firmly into the camp of "does not like piracy" was kidding themselves, especially considering the comics industry probably loses a much higher percentage of their business annually to piracy than the film, television and recording industries do.
I can understand the outrage over Go Daddy, they're a head scratcher, but seriously? Marvel? No surprise.
Of course they are. It's silly to assume they would not be.
I thought Congress already canceled the vote over this bill.
It's not surprise that Marvel is in support of the bill. And whatever happens with this bill, it won't be because of Marvel's influence. (Companies like Disney and Time Warner? Yes. Subsidiaries like Marvel? No.)
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

Ugh, I feel like throwing up. This is like catching your girlfriend in bed with, I don't know, a child molester or something.
As someone said above, I suppose we should be surprised, but still...I expected it from DC, but I guess the whole "owned by Disney" thing hadn't really sunk in yet.
Come on folks, I *like* Marvel comics - I feel like the next time I go down to the shop, I'm going to feel dirty for doing so. Don't put us in that position....
