What about the Chris Claremont/Michael Golden "Action Comics" annual? There was a cover shot in a house ad, but the book never appeared...

So the lesson here seems to be Warren Ellis has a lot of ideas he either doesn't have time or actual story for.
The Punisher: I’m going to cauterize your rectum, sealing it shut, so when you turn those delicious Pink Pants™ Fruit Pies into waste products the bilirubin in your feces will leach into your bloodstream and you’ll die screaming! And I’ll watch while having sex with this grateful prostitute!

Trussed-Up Hooker: Blueberry are my favorite!

In other words, what StoneGold said.

Also given Miller's treatment of women, the story is tailor-made for him - the Harlot Magdalene and the Virgin Mary.

Which is a pity, because Morning Dragons sounded really cool.
    "We must fight on!"
"We'll die. We fight and we die, that's how it goes."
    "Then we die gloriously!"

So Marvelman doesn't get a mention? Don't want to upset Marvel I guess. What about the Giffen / Wray Lobo's Dog? Completely penciled by Bill Wray. John Bryne's Last Galactus story conclusion from Epic?

Half these "No-Shows" I've never heard of or could care about. Why pick on Ellis?

I'm still bummed that Punisher comic never happened. I actually have a Genesis with the game still in it.

Not me. As much as I admire Lee's work, his putting a bandanna on Nick Fury (as well as Frank Castle) kills it for me. I can't imagine two character in less need of such silly adornments as those two.

Sometimes, it's best just to illustrate things without all the extra bells and whistles.

I'm still waiting for the rest of the issues of Sonic Disruptors by Mike Baron which got cancelled mid-series. It was going nowhere fast - made no sense at all - and according to Wikipedia, Mike Baron agreed!

Default CBR: Comics' Most Notorious No-Shows, Part 2

These were a fun couple of articles.

I hadn't heard of MORNING DRAGONS by Ellis and Lieber. I'm not the biggest Ellis fan, but this sounds awesome. Pity it's dead.

Poor Doctor Strange, I didn't know he missed out on an Ellison/JRjr collaboration; and Frank Miller drawing him! Some of the others I don't think are any great loss like Smith on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN or Way on DEATHLOK.

Surprised CITY LIGHTS by Steve Dillon and Garth Ennis didn't make the list.

There were some pretty good potential comics there. I think everyone's sentimentality is that Morning Dragons sounded pretty awesome. I can't help but think of Pathfinder when I read that opening sequence.

Morning Dragons sounds absolutely brilliant, I would love Warren Ellis to take another look at it. I will write him now.

Would love to see Quitely's pencils. Is there anyway someone could take that project away from DC, if they're just going to sit on it? Can't think how many other amazing stories they are just sitting on.
