Default CBR: THE BAT SIGNAL: Scott Snyder Explore's "Batman's" History

From the early days of Owlman to the unknown secrets of Bruce Wayne's parents, the long history of the "Batman" title still holds sway as writer Scott Snyder makes his way through a deadly year-long arc focusing on the Court of Owls.

, I don't want to give the impression that we're altering things so the Owls or the Talon now killed his parents. That's not where we're going. Let's make that clear.
all those sweaty palms in the batman #4 thread for no reason at all V_V

and yeah, snyder does 'creeping dread' better than anyone at DC, probably ever

I don't like that it's an 11-issue arc - I've been getting really burned out on long arcs lately (though to be fair it was Fraction's 12-issue Iron Man arc that really killed me). Having said that, the story itself both sounds and reads great.

Snyder's doing really well and I can already tell that I'd love to have this in a single oversized hardcover.
Anyone who thinks DC is bringing back the Silver Age doesn't know what the Silver Age is.

There is no such word as "persay," it's per se, two words, from the Latin.

Too bad that it will be collected as two separate HC first. It might be years before we get a complete version

He did that with the Black Mirror, right?

He did. It was glad. I'm pleased that he's trying a long story arc form

I plan to pick up the HC when they're available, and hope for an absolute version!

Scott Snyder is clearly a very conscientious guy who's invested in making Batman's fans happy.

Yeah that's the main reason I've decided to get this in trade.

Snyder gives great interviews. He's always teeming with enthusiasm for whatever he's working on.

I started reading all of these because of the New 52 (didn't even know Grayson had been Batman or any of the Crisis stuff), so I didn't know how long the arc would be. I'm not collecting them, so I'll probably just sell back what I've got from this set and put that meager amount back towards the eventual HC. I'm liking this story a lot so far, so I can't wait to see where it goes.

I've got Black Mirror tucked aside as an Xmas gift for myself, and I want to see Gates of Gotham when it comes out; I really like Snyder's way with the story, the fans, and he seems like a great guy in general.

Got into Snyder with American Vampire, and Batman to me is just as good.

I got chills reading this Not only can Snyder write an epic story, but he knows what to say to sensationalize and make you fiend for it as well. Gotta love him. My favorite part is when he talks about the Court not taking Batman seriously. Batman is Bruce's most powerful resource, so it's going to be awesome seeing it made virtually useless.

Yeah the way he talks about how the Court of Owls don't bother with Batman and would just brush him aside shows how big this organization must be. Clearly Scott Snyder has really ambitious goals, and if the execution lives up to it, this could be a definitive Batman tale of the new decade.
